“三山五园”
Three hills and five gardens
“三山”即万寿山、香山、玉泉山,“五园”即颐和园、静宜园、静明园、畅春园、圆明园,是北京西北郊、以清代皇家园林为代表的各历史时期文化遗产、山水形胜整体格局,以及人与自然和谐空间秩序的统称。
These refer to a group of historical and cultural sites located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing. The "three hills" include the Longevity Hill, the Fragrance Hill and the Jade Spring Hill, while the "five gardens" are the Summer Palace, Garden of Tranquility and Pleasure (Jingyi Garden), Garden of Tranquility and Brightness (Jingming Garden), Garden of Everlasting Spring (Changchun Garden) and Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park. These sites offer a glimpse into the city’s rich cultural heritage, in particular, the exquisite imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Known for their stunning landscapes, they epitomize the harmony between humanity and nature.
