韧性城市
Resilient City
指在重大风险灾害中具备较强承受能力、适应能力和快速恢复能力的城市，在遭受重大安全事故、极端天气、地震、洪涝、重大疫情等突发事件时，能够凭借其动态平衡、冗余缓冲和自我修复等特性，保持抗压、存续、适应和可持续发展的能力。
This refers to a city with a strong capacity to withstand, absorb, and recover quickly from significant shocks and disasters. When severe incidents occur, such as serious safety accidents, extreme weather, earthquakes, floods, and major public health emergencies, a resilient city leverages its built-in buffers and self-healing mechanisms to absorb the pressure. By adapting to evolving situations, such a city is able to maintain functionality, recover, and achieve sustainable development.
“好房子”
Quality Home Initiative
适应住房发展新阶段人民群众对美好生活的新期待，国家明确要求以提升居民居住品质和幸福感为导向,从功能、质量、体验等方面出发，既通过强化标准引领、技术赋能把新房子建造成“好房子”, 也通过科学改造把老房子改造成“好房子”。
This refers to a national initiative aimed at building homes with improved functionality and quality to meet people’s growing expectations for a better life in the new period of housing development. New homes will be built to higher standards with improved technology, while existing housing will be renovated with a view to improving quality and the residents’ sense of wellbeing.
高地堡垒
Elevated Emergency Refuges
指在山区高地安全位置建造的紧急防汛避险设施，遇到突发事件时为受灾群众提供临时庇护，避险时长一般不超过24小时，平时则作为乡村发展产业或服务群众的场所。
These are emergency flood-control and evacuation facilities built at safe, elevated locations in mountainous areas. In the event of flash floods, they provide temporary shelter for generally up to 24 hours. In normal times, they can serve as spaces for rural industrial development or for public use.
“双减”
Double Reduction
2021年7月，中共中央办公厅、国务院办公厅印发文件，要求减轻义务教育阶段学生作业负担和校外培训负担，切实提升学校育人水平。
This is a policy adopted to ease academic pressure on students. In July, 2021, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council jointly issued a policy document, outlining measures to reduce excessive burdens on students from both homework and out-of-class tutoring during their compulsory schooling. The aim is to improve in-school education more effectively.
“双一流”建设
Double First-Class Initiative
指世界一流大学和一流学科建设。2017年9月，教育部等多部门联合发布世界一流大学和一流学科建设高校及建设学科名单，其中北京地区有34所高校、162个学科入选。
This is an initiative to develop world-class universities and academic disciplines. In September 2017, the Ministry of Education and other relevant central departments jointly released the list of institutions and disciplines selected for this initiative. Among them, 34 universities and 162 disciplines were from Beijing.
《向前一步》
“One Step Forward” TV Program
我国首档城市公民与公共政策对话的社会民生类节目，自2018年6月29日在北京卫视周末黄金时段推出。该节目挖掘文物腾退、背街小巷治理、棚户区改造等与人民群众切身利益密切相关的热点话题，邀请城市管理者、新闻当事人、专家调解员、媒体观察员、心理咨询师、专职律师、邻里关联人等多方参与，有效疏导情绪、化解矛盾，切实解决市民诉求。
This is China’s first TV program aimed at facilitating dialogue between citizens and policymakers on public issues. It was launched on June 29, 2018 on BRTV, and first aired in a prime-time weekend slot. The program focuses on hot topics closely related to people’s immediate interests, such as relocation of residents in cultural heritage sites, improving backstreets and alleys, and renovating rundown urban areas. It invites participation from various stakeholders, such as city administrators, residents who are directly affected, mediators, journalists, psychological counselors, lawyers, as well as people from nearby neighborhoods. The program provides a forum for effectively channeling peoples’ emotions, resolving problems, and addressing popular concerns.
