四个中心
Four Centers
即全国政治中心、文化中心、国际交往中心、科技创新中心，是中央明确的北京城市战略定位。
They refer to Beijing’s strategic position as the national political center, cultural center, center for international exchanges and center for technological innovation, as defined by China’s central authorities.
四个服务
Four Services
即为中央党政军领导机关的工作服务，为国家的国际交往服务，为科技和教育发展服务，为改善人民群众生活服务，是中央对首都工作的基本要求，也是做好首都工作的根本职责所在。
They refer to four fundamental duties of Beijing as the capital, that is to support departments and institutions of the CPC central committee, the central government and central military commission, to facilitate international exchanges at the national level, to advance the development of science, technology and education, and to improve people’s lives. These reflect the basic requirements of the central authorities for the capital city.
“五子”联动
Five Key Initiatives
是指围绕落实北京城市战略定位，从国际科技创新中心建设、“两区”建设、全球数字经济标杆城市建设、以供给侧结构性改革引领和创造新需求、以疏解北京非首都功能为“牛鼻子”推动京津冀协同发展等五个维度，形成体系化的工作抓手，更好服务和融入新发展格局。
These are five development initiatives launched by Beijing to better fulfill its strategic role.
They include building Beijing into an international center of technological innovation; developing the Two Zones, namely the National Integrated Demonstration Zone for Greater Openness in the Services Sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone; turning Beijing into a global model city for the digital economy; driving and fostering new demand through supply-side structural reform; and promoting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region through relocation of functions non-essential to Beijing’s role as the capital.
These initiatives, pursued in a coordinated way, will enable Beijing to better serve and integrate into the country’s new development pattern.
新两翼
Two Wings of the Capital
是指北京城市副中心和河北雄安新区。2017年6月27日，习近平总书记在主持中央政治局常委会会议，专题听取北京城市总体规划编制工作汇报时强调，要以首都为核心，雄安新区与城市副中心为新的两翼，推动京津冀协同发展，继而建设世界级城市群。
This refers to the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) and the Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province, which are developing as the two wings of the capital city. On June 27, 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over a meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, which focused on reports of the Master Plan of Development for Beijing. The General Secretary stressed that the BMC, along with the Xiong’an New Area, should serve as the two wings, with the capital as the center, to propel the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and to ultimately create a world-class city cluster in the region.
三山五园
Three Hills and Five Gardens
“三山”是指万寿山、香山、玉泉山，“五园”是指颐和园、静宜园、静明园、畅春园、圆明园。三山五园是北京西北郊以清代皇家园林为代表的各历史时期文化遗产、山水形胜整体格局，以及人与自然和谐空间秩序的统称。
These refer to a group of historical and cultural sites located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing. The “Three Hills” are the Longevity Hill, the Fragrant Hill and the Jade Spring Hill, while the “Five Gardens” are the Summer Palace, Garden of Tranquility and Pleasure (Jingyi Garden), Garden of Tranquility and Brightness (Jingming Garden), Garden of Everlasting Spring (Changchun Garden) and Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park. Together they represent a profound cultural legacy spanning multiple historical eras, epitomized by the exquisite 18th-century imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty. Their beautiful landscapes and structures perfectly embody harmony between humanity and nature.
三大红色文化主题片区
Three Major Zones of Revolutionary Culture
是指以北大红楼为中心的中国共产党早期北京革命活动主题片区，以卢沟桥宛平城为中心的抗日战争主题片区和以双清别墅、天安门为中心的建立新中国主题片区。
These are three themed heritage zones in Beijing, each commemorating a pivotal period in China’s modern revolutionary history: 1) the early CPC activities zone, centered on the Red Building of Peking University; 2) the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression zone, centered on Lugou Bridge and Wanping city area; and 3) the founding of the PRC zone, centered on Shuangqing Villa and Tian’anmen Square.
六环高线公园
Sixth Ring Road High Line Park
是指以东六环入地改造为契机，依托现状路基及两侧绿化建设高线公园，南北长约14公里，总用地面积约5.45平方公里，是城市副中心串联南北、缝合东西、融合功能的综合城市功能区。
This refers to a high line park made possible by the partial undergrounding of the eastern section of the Sixth Ring Road. Built upon the existing roadbed and adjacent green spaces, the park extends approximately 14 kilometers from north to south, and covers a total area of about 5.45 square kilometers. It serves as an urban corridor with integrated functions in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, seamlessly linking its northern and southern sections, as well as its east and west parts.
申忆
Memory of the World Nomination
是指申报世界记忆遗产。世界记忆遗产是联合国教科文组织于1992年启动的文献保护项目，目的是通过国际合作与技术手段保护濒危文献遗产，留存人类记忆。
This refers to the application process to inscribe documentary heritage on the Memory of the World International Register. Launched in 1992, the Memory of the World Program is a UNESCO initiative dedicated to safeguarding humanity’s documentary legacy. The goal is to preserve endangered records through international cooperation and the use of advanced technologies, ensuring that the world’s collective memory endures.
“五个一工程”奖
National Awards for Best Cultural Works
是指中宣部自1992年起设立的精神文明建设“五个一工程”奖，每两年评选一次，旨在推动优秀精神文化产品创作生产，最初涵盖戏剧、电视剧（片）、电影、图书（限社会科学）、理论文章（限社会科学）五个领域，1995年歌曲和广播剧也被纳入评选范围，2024年新增网络文艺作品，形成8大类的评选格局。
These awards were first set up in 1992 by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee to recognize excellence in ethical and cultural development. Presented every two years, they aim to promote high-quality intellectual and cultural works. Initially, the awards were presented in five categories: stage plays, television dramas (series), films, works of social science, and articles on theory in social sciences. In 1995, the scope was broadened to include songs and radio dramas, and then in 2024, online literary and artistic creations, bringing the total number of award categories to eight.
