To build a solid barrier against the epidemic in Beijing in the face of the severe and complicated situation, the party leadership group of the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office attached great importance to the requirements of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Working Committee of agencies directly under Beijing Municipal Committee, sending party members and officials to the front line to support the epidemic response in a well-planned and coordinated manner. Since April 30, three batches of party members and officials, totaling 13 people, have been sent to assist in epidemic control in communities (villages). They served as anti-covid workers to assist in PCR tests, data statistics, policy communication, material arrangement, license issuance, hotline answering, etc. With a high sense of political responsibility and mission, they united and cooperated with staff, volunteers and residents in subdistricts and communities (villages), making their own contribution to Beijing's epidemic control and demonstrating the sense of mission of foreign affairs office's staff on the front line of the fight against the epidemic.

There are 5 areas in Xiaobao Village. Each of them has art studios, hotels, companies and other densely populated places with a large flow of personnel. During his spare time, Wu found 585 geographical coordinates and databases corresponding to each area from more than 6000 pieces of data to better collate residents' information and respond to the epidemic. Thanks to his efforts, epidemiological investigation data could be automatically identified and retrieved. He also standardized other data relevant to the epidemic and used function calculators to automatically analyse and integrate the data. Thus, the statistics are much more accurate and easier to process, contributing to efficient covid prevention and control in the village. Wu was commended for his work by people across the village. He said that he was very honoured to use his expertise to facilitate covid response at the community level.
Xu Yujia from the European, African and Asian Affairs Division: self-improvement on the front line of the anti-Covid battle at the community level
Xu Yujia has been working in Xiaoyuan Community, Zhongcang Subdistrict, Tongzhou District since May 8, mainly responsible for assisting in PCR tests, epidemiological investigation statistics, etc.
Many apartments in the old Xiaoyuan Community haven't been equipped with elevators. Therefore, Xu and community staff had to climb stairs in protective clothing to gather information on epidemiological investigation. They were often drenched in sweat due to scorching weather. Under the circumstances, Xu patiently answered residents' questions even though sometimes they couldn't understand or even doubted policies. Despite being exhausted after toiling in the daytime, she still used her smile to delight people around her. The information she processed was complete and well-classified. Community staff gave her a thumbs-up. She said that she made progress faster by fighting on the front line of the anti-Covid battle.
Li Tao from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Division: show a strong sense of responsibility
Li Tao has been working in Tuofangyingbeili Community, Jiangtai Subdistrict, Chaoyang District since May 12, mainly responsible for assisting in inputting PCR tests information.
There are about 2000 households in Tuofangyingbeili Community, including compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as foreigners. Covid workers like Li needed to ensure efficient and accurate input of information on ID cards, passports, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents, etc. To ensure effective policy communication, they also needed to explain policies to residents through empathy and encourage them to proactively follow the policies. As the saying goes, "Go where there is an epidemic, fight it till it perishes." Bearing this line in mind, Li was able to input information accurately through remarkable hand-eye coordination within a few days. In addition, he made full use of English and Cantonese he had learned throughout years of studying and working. He not only input the information efficiently but also promoted policy communication, making a great contribution to epidemic prevention and control in the community. He said that he felt fulfilled in trying his best to contribute to the community.

Zhu Kenuo has been working in Shoucheng Community, Jinsong Subdistrict, Chaoyang District since May 7, mainly responsible for checking personal information and maintaining the order on the nucleic acid test site.
Shoucheng Community had 7 testing sites where on average over 8000 PCR tests were taken per day. Zhu served as a policy communicator, guide and psychological counsellor. Many residents on the testing site chatted with her, asking about policies, talking about everyday life, or simply complaining of inconvenience incurred by the epidemic. She responded to each resident, helping them understand current covid policies and shore up confidence in defeating the virus. As parents said waiting for PCR tests costs too much time for senior students, Zhu actively advised the community to provide a "Green Passage" for these students. Her advice solved their problem in an effective and timely manner. As a result, all residents gave her a thumbs-up. She said that putting herself into the residents' shoes was what she should do.
Yang Huanchang from the Information Division: offer citizen hotline services during the epidemic
Yang Huanchang has been working in Caosi Village, Songzhuang Town, Tongzhou District since May 2, assisting in PCR tests, pass issuance, 12345 citizen hotline services, etc.
Located at the boundary of Chaoyang District, Shunyi District and Tongzhou District, Caosi Village has a large population and the situation there is complex. Yang had to arrive at the testing site before 6:00 am to prepare for PCR tests. For him, maintaining the order on the site was another test. Sweat stained his protective clothing under the scorching sun, but he still needed to remind villagers in the queue of keeping social distance. When serving as a hotline operator, he faced residents with various needs. No matter what their needs were, he patiently communicated with callers, recorded their problems, and checked, verified as well as solved them actively and prudently as soon as possible, abiding by the principle of satisfying the people. The work in the daytime usually exhausted him. However, he said that serving the people this way was more of fulfillment and touching moments than hardship.
