On April 19, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with London Breed, Mayor of the City of San Francisco.
Yin said that last November, President Xi Jinping and President Biden held a meeting in San Francisco, where they had an in-depth exchange of views on strategic and overarching issues critical to the direction of China-U.S. relations, charting the "San Francisco vision" oriented toward the future of the relations. In their recent phone call, the two presidents jointly conveyed a positive message to strengthen dialogue, exchange, and cooperation. As the capital of China, Beijing is not only the nation's center of politics, culture, international exchanges, and sci-tech innovation, but also a cosmopolitan city with a profound history and vibrant modernity. Over the years, the friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between Beijing and San Francisco have borne fruitful outcomes. We look forward to working with San Francisco to implement the important consensus of the heads of state of the two countries, enhancing exchanges and mutual learning in urban governance, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in fields such as economy, trade, and investment, as well as people-to-people exchanges. This aims to make sub-national exchanges a catalyst for the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations.
Breed said San Francisco is willing to take advantage of sub-national exchanges, build more bridges for people-to-people exchanges, and further strengthen cooperation with Beijing in economy, trade, tourism, education, and others, so as to contribute to the advancement of U.S.-China relations.
