On the morning of January 10, Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with the delegation led by Dr. Jonathan CHOI Koon-shum, member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), and Chairman of Sunwah Group.
Yin highly applauded CGCC’s longstanding commitment to promoting exchanges and cooperation between Hong Kong and Chinese mainland. He said the CGCC has always loved both the motherland and Hong Kong, and made great contributions to the smooth implementation of “One Country, Two Systems” policy and the country’s socio-economic development. As one of the organizers of the Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium, it has also been instrumental in promoting economic and trade cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong. In recent years, by keeping to its strategic positioning as the “four centers”, Beijing has made great efforts to become an international innovation center, a global model city of digital economy, and an international consumption center. It has advanced the “two zones” development, the high-standard construction of the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC), and the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Through these efforts, the city has achieved high-quality development in supporting the country’s major strategic planning and built up even stronger development momentum. He expressed his hope for CGCC member enterprises in the following aspects: ride on the wave of Beijing’s development, expand investment and presence in Beijing, and deepen engagement in the construction and development of the BMC; play our their advantages in connecting with the international market to build more platforms for exchanges and cooperation; enhance the global profile of Beijing to attract more high-quality enterprises and high-end talents to invest and develop in the city. Beijing will continue to create a better business environment for CGCC member enterprises and other Hong Kong-funded and Chinese enterprises at large, and make it easier for Hong Kong people to work and live in the city.
Choi highly commended Beijing’s socio-economic success and the rapid development of the BMC. He said the CGCC will better play its role as a bridge to establish a more efficient platform for cooperation and exchanges, boost cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong in fields such as finance, science and technology, culture and tourism, and the modern service sector, and support and encourage more Hong Kong enterprises and young talents to innovate and start businesses in Beijing.
Municipal leaders Xia Linmao, Yang Jinbai, and Zhao Lei attended the meeting.
