On the evening of October 12, the 2024 Reception in Honor of Foreign Diplomatic Missions to China was held at Beijing Garden Expo Park. More than 260 guests attended, including diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations from 75 countries, along with their families. Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered remarks, and Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, moderated the event. Li Xiuling, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, and Wei Xiaodong, Chairman of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee, also attended the event.

In his speech, Yin Li expressed gratitude for the participants’ longstanding care and support for Beijing’s development over the years. He noted that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China has followed a development path befitting its national conditions since the founding of the People’s Republic of China 75 years ago. The country thus has realized the long-held dream of building a moderately prosperous society and has maintained rapid economic growth and long-term social stability. These achievements have not only benefited the Chinese people but also contributed significantly to world peace and development. He emphasized that President Xi Jinping’s vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind has garnered broad international consensus for creating a better world together. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee outlined a comprehensive and systematic plan to deepen reform and advance Chinese modernization. With a strong commitment to high-level opening-up, China will generate more opportunities for global development. As China’s capital, Beijing boasts a profound historical and cultural heritage, substantial educational and technological resources, a large talent pool, convenient international connectivity, and vibrant development. Beijing is committed to becoming a national pioneer in achieving socialist modernization. It is moving fast to serve as an international center for scientific and technological innovation and a hub for high-caliber talent, and developing new quality productive forces. The city will continue to improve its megacity governance, elevate people’s well-being, deepen reform, expand opening-up and create a world-class business environment. He called for joint efforts with global friends to make this historic and dynamic city even better. He said that diplomatic envoys and representatives are “ambassadors of friendship”, and Beijing will facilitate and support their roles, fostering new chapters of friendly cooperation together.
Forging bonds, boosting cooperation
On behalf of diplomatic envoys, Martin Mpana, Ambassador of Cameroon to China, delivered a speech. He praised Beijing for its economic recovery, robust social welfare, and the solid progress of high-quality development. He highlighted how Beijing has harnessed technological innovation to fuel stronger momentum for high-quality development and create new drivers for building a global benchmark city for digital economy. He expressed confidence that this admirable city will achieve even greater development milestones.
During the reception, the participants visited the EVE Group at the Garden Expo Park, and enjoyed the “Beijing Jingcai Lantern Festival”, experiencing the unique charm of Beijing’s culture and exquisite intangible cultural heritage.
