From June 27 to 29, the Experimental School Affiliated to Niulanshan First Secondary School (hereinafter referred to as the “Experimental School”) in Shunyi District welcomed a group of American teenagers, who came to China through an international youth cultural exchange program, with Beijing being their second destination. A special welcome ceremony was held for these friends coming from afar on the first day. The Experimental School’s dance group presented a spectacular performance Splendid China, showcasing the uniqueness and brilliance of Chinese ethnic minority dance and the exuberance and vitality of Chinese teenagers.

The following orchestra performance also captivated the American peers. One student, in particular, showed a keen interest in music and raised several questions after being briefed on the school’s orchestra. The American students marveled at the unique and wonderful Chinese musical instruments after the performance, eagerly trying them out.

While observing the crafting process of Linglong Pillows, American youths were deeply impressed by the exquisite skills of Chinese craftsmen. They touched these intricate creations, experiencing the profound heritage of traditional Beijing embroidery.

Accompanied by their Chinese partners, the foreign group toured the picturesque campus adorned with lush trees and fragrant flowers. Each corner radiates a youthful energy. The American youths were captivated by the charm of this expansive and beautiful school, which is vibrant and full of hope.

To provide these American students with a more immersive experience of Chinese art, the Experimental School organized a session on lacquer fan painting, where the students meticulously sketched patterns and applied lacquer. These lacquer fans are not only souvenirs they created by themselves but also serve as a testament to their deep connection with Chinese culture.

The American group arrived just in time for the sixth-grade graduation ceremony at the elementary school. On this special evening, the young Americans joined the graduates and their parents to enjoy the spectacular performance and made many Chinese friends. Two international students even took to the stage, earning bursts of applause for their performance.

The next day marked a trip to the Great Wall. Standing atop this majestic structure, they felt its profound history and enduring significance, expressing that this rare experience deepened their understanding of Chinese history and culture.

The host families also took American students to visit the Palace Museum and Tiananmen Square to experience the unique charm of classical Chinese architecture and the brilliance of ancient Chinese civilization. Additionally, they sampled Beijing specialties, immersing themselves in Chinese culinary culture.
