On July 28, the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs hosted the Second Lancang-Mekong Fruit Festival in Beijing Expo Park. The festival was organized by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Government of Yanqing District.
Under the theme of "Gathering Online in Orchards to Share Development", the festival included online and offline visits to orchards, seminars, and live streaming marketing. The participants paid an on-site visit to the orchards in Beijing and enjoyed a virtual tour of tropical orchards in the Mekong countries as well as those in provinces like Guangdong and Jiangxi via video link.
At the Lancang-Mekong Agricultural and Rural Development Cooperation Forum and the Lancang-Mekong Fruit Industry Development Seminar, the participants shared the results of the Lancang-Mekong agricultural cooperation projects, exchanged experience in the fruit industry and poverty reduction, and discussed how to strengthen regional agricultural cooperation and scale up investment by businesses. The envoys of the Mekong countries and heads of fruit enterprises joined in the live streaming marketing event, "Fruity Fragrance from Lancang-Mekong Region", to interact with the audience online, promote fruits from the region, and discuss agricultural cooperation.
The Lancang-Mekong Agricultural Cooperation Report 2020 was released at the event. Over 100 representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, agriculture departments at provincial and municipal levels, as well as embassies of the Mekong countries in China and agriculture departments from the Mekong countries, attended the events both online and offline.
