China and Cambodia are good neighbors, friends, and partners who share a bond of brotherhood. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both nations, the China-Cambodia community with a shared future has achieved remarkable progress, and the iron-clad friendship gains broader public support in both countries. In recent years, exchanges between Beijing and Cambodian local governments at various levels have steadily increased, with cooperation deepening across a range of fields. As 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of China-Cambodia diplomatic relations, Beijing and Phnom Penh officially established a sister-city relationship.

In February 2025, Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) President and Senate President Hun Sen, and CPP Vice President and Prime Minister Hun Manet, met separately in Phnom Penh with Yin Li, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.

From February to April 2025, the “Hello Beijing” Photography Exhibition and Culinary Tasting Event was successfully held at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport in Cambodia. The event aimed to showcase Beijing’s charm as a historical and cultural city, as well as the latest achievements in its development as a world tourism destination, to Cambodian residents and international travelers passing through the airport.

In February 2025, the Cambodia branch of Beijing Tong Ren Tang hosted a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) cultural event at its TCM Research Center in Phnom Penh. The event featured the traditional preparation of Niuhuang Qingxin Wan, the crafting of herbal sachets, TCM consultations, and Baduanjin exercises, actively promoting the global reach of TCM culture.

In October 2024, the China-Cambodia Business School was established in Beijing as a joint initiative between Beijing Technology and Business University and the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The school aims to foster collaborations in education and culture by strengthening youth exchanges between both countries, thus actively engaging in the “Belt and Road” initiative.

In recent years, Phnom Penh has sent delegations to participate in several programs hosted by Beijing, such as the Workshop for Officials from Beijing’s Sister Cities and the Beijing Sister City Youth Camp.
