The China Cultural Center in Copenhagen, in collaboration with Ørestad Gymnasium, held a special event titled “A Moonment to Remember - Mid-Autumn Day in Poetry” on September 20, 2024, . The event featured activities such as the reading of classical Chinese poetry, appreciation of Chinese-style music, recitation of Tang poetry, and hands-on sessions of calligraphy and Chinese cuisine. These activities allowed high school students learning Chinese to immerse themselves in the vibrant and rich essence of traditional Chinese culture.
Centered around the themes of the Mid-Autumn Festival, moon-watching, and homesickness, the staff elaborated on the similarities and differences between shi and ci, two types of classical Chinese poetry. They presented Thoughts on a Quiet Night and Water Song·How Long Will the Full Moon Appear to the attending teachers and students. Following this, the guzheng performers delivered a captivating rendition of How Long Will the Full Moon Appear, offering the audience a more immersive experience rather than just a rough understanding. During the discussion, Principal Mads Lyngby Skrubbeltrang noted, “Both poems convey a subtle sadness and a longing for family.” A student added, “When I was fifteen, I was away from my parents for two months. Through these poems, I deeply felt the emotions of separation and reunion.”
