The 2024 Chinese Movie Week opened in Tirana, the capital city of Albania, on September 23. The six-day event features screenings of six Chinese movies, namely Ordinary Hero, I Am What I Am, Love Never Ends, My Country, My Parents, Hi, Mom, and The Wandering Earth.
More than 150 guests from all walks of life attended the opening ceremony, including Pang Chunxue, Chinese Ambassador to Albania, Blerta Rama, Vice Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation of Albania, and Iljaz Spahiu, President of the Albanian-China Cultural Association. In her speech, Pang highlighted the importance of movies in fostering people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Albanian movies such as Horizonte te Hapura and I Teti Ne Bronx have left a profound impression on Chinese audiences. The selection of six Chinese movies for this event aims to deepen the Albanian people’s understanding of China. Pang expressed China’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Albania, boosting people-to-people and cultural exchanges and building a community with a shared future for mankind. Spahiu stressed the vital role of people-to-people and cultural exchanges in Albania-China relations. The Albanian-China Cultural Association will work with various sectors in Albania to promote Chinese culture and help more Albanians understand contemporary China.
After the opening ceremony, all the guests gathered to watch the movie Ordinary Hero.
