Recently, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
Yin noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, the bilateral relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes, setting an example for relations between major countries. Since Beijing and Moscow established their sister-city relationship, the two capitals have engaged in close and fruitful cooperation, playing a leading and exemplary role in fostering sub-national exchange and cooperation between the two countries. With the implementation of the Master Plan in recent years, Beijing has been promoting high-quality development, enhancing urban governance, and transforming the city’s growth model. It is hoped that the two cities will implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen exchange and cooperation, and enhance mutual learning of urban governance practices, so as to foster a stronger bond between the two cities.
Sobyanin highlighted the enduring friendship between Moscow and Beijing, expressing willingness for deeper cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, culture, tourism, and urban governance to elevate the friendship to a new height.
After the meeting, Yin and Sobyanin signed a program of cooperation between Beijing and Moscow for 2024-2026. They also attended the opening ceremony and artistic performance of “The Moscow Day” series of events.
Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov, Deputy Mayors of Moscow Maksim Liksutov and Vladimir Yefimov, as well as Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
