On October 11, Beijing Energy International (Australia) Holdings Co., Ltd (BJEI Australia) and Beijing Jingneng Clean Energy (Australia) Holding Pty Ltd (BJCE Australia) held the completion ceremony of Biala Wind Farm in Crookwell, Upper Lachlan Shire, New South Wales, Australia. The Biala Wind Farm project started its construction in August 2019, and has started generating power since 2020. After completion, the Biala Wind Farm is expected to produce enough electricity for 46,000 local homes per day.
Zhou Limin, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney, congratulated the completion of the Biala Wind Farm and spoke highly of its positive role in providing clean energy and promoting local employment. Zhou said that the success of BJCE Australia attested to the mutually beneficial nature of cooperation between China and Australia, and demonstrated the great potential of new energy cooperation between the two nations. Zhou said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia, and it is the common hope of the Chinese and Australian people to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and to jointly create a better future. It is hoped that enterprises from both nations will give full play to their respective advantages, further deepen cooperation that benefits both China and Australia, and people of both nations, as well as contribute more to the global response to climate change.
Shi Weiwei, General Manager of BJEI Australia, said that leveraging its strengths in management and expertise in clean energy, and the abundant wind and solar energy resources in Australia, BJEI is committed to building a localized clean energy enterprise, to provide more clean energy for local households together with the local communities and society and contribute to Australia's 2030 Emission Reduction Target.
The Biala Wind Farm project, during construction and operation, has provided 110 local jobs directly. The 31-turbine project has an installed capacity of 110MW, producing enough electricity for around 46,000 typical homes on an average day of wind. The project, together with the co-located Gullen Range Wind Farm and Gullen Solar Farm installed a total number of 104 wind turbines, which are all Goldwind's direct-driven wind turbines, providing clean energy power to an average of 116,000 households per day. BJCE Australia will continue to arrange community tours to encourage university students and students from local primary and secondary schools to learn about the application of clean energy technologies.
