In September 2020, Martins Stakis, the leader of “Movement For!”, was elected Chairman of the Riga City Council and Mayor of Riga, by 46 votes to 11. Stressing the city's dire need for change, Mr. Stakis pledged that the new government will develop and offer modern solutions in all areas, from attracting investments, planning transport infrastructure to making kindergartens more accessible.

Mr. Staķis obtained a bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Latvia in municipal administration. He was an MP at the 13th Saeima and the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Defence.
