Nearly 300 boxes of anti-epidemic supplies including masks, protective and isolation gowns donated by Beijing to its sister city, Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, were handed over to the Pakistani Embassy in China on the afternoon of April 9. Previously, Mayor Chen Jining had sent a letter of sympathy to his counterpart in Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed, Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) of Islamabad, and pledged support to help the city battle the virus.
Pakistan, an all-weather strategic partner of China, has seen fast spread of COVID-19 lately. The donated supplies will be promptly carried to the country by a government-chartered cargo plane and then transferred to the city authorities of Islamabad through Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority.
