To celebrate the Year of the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar, the “Hello · Beijing” Spring Festival Garden Party was recently held in Sydney. The event was co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the China Cultural Centre in Sydney, the China National Tourist Office, Sydney, and the Chinese Garden of Friendship. A diverse array of cultural displays and interactive activities gave the local community a truly festive experience of Chinese culture infused with the spirit of the Spring Festival.
During the event, the Chinese Garden of Friendship, designed in the style of a classic Chinese garden, was adorned with festive lanterns and colored streamers, creating a joyful and harmonious atmosphere. Artists from Beijing presented performances of Peking opera, martial arts, acrobatics, and song and dance, highlighting the distinctive charm and cultural appeal of the capital and thus drawing large crowds. Representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage demonstrated traditional Beijing crafts, such as Cao’s kites, paper-cutting, and sugar figure blowing. Interactive cultural activities, including calligraphy, rubbings, tea tasting, and pitch-pot, also attracted enthusiastic public participation.
Concurrently, the “Hello, Beijing” photo exhibition and the exhibition of award-winning works from the Global Zodiac Design Competition showcased the charm of the Chinese zodiac and the image of Beijing vividly through photography and creative design.
During the event, Chinese cultural and tourism institutions in Australia also presented promotional materials for travel to China, emphasizing the 30-day visa-free policy and convenient payment services, while providing on-site travel consultation.
