On August 24, Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, China Public Diplomacy Association, and Shougang Group jointly arranged trips for foreign reporters to visit the New Shougang Park, a new landmark of the capital's urban renewal. More than 30 foreign reporters from 27 countries, including Egypt, Colombia, South Africa, Thailand and Uzbekistan, who came to Beijing for study and work, participated in the event.

The reporters enjoyed sunshine and blue skies on that day. The heritage of the old Shougang and the vitality of the 2022 Winter Olympics venue mutually reinforced each other. It boasts both old industrial style and advanced technologies. Foreign reporters wandered around the Shougang Park, strolled along the skywalks, and were impressed by blast furnaces and pipes, the Big Air Shougang, and the cooling tower. Watching these, they recalled the wonderful performance of athletes from various countries in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

"This place is so cool!" "It's hard to imagine that this is a steel mill!" "It's incredible! The industrial, high-tech, and Olympic elements are all in one picture. It's so beautiful!" The foreign reporters were amazed at the transformation of the industrial heritage of Shougang into a new landmark of urban renewal, and they kept filming with their cell phones and cameras, recording every detail, not wanting to miss any wonderful moment.

Ephrahim Edward Bahemu, a reporter from Tanzania's Mwananchi Communications Ltd, said, "The trip to Shougang was so impressive. Such a huge industrial facility has been preserved as an industrial museum, which is hard to see anywhere else."

Leana Beatrice, a reporter from the People's Television Network in the Philippines, said, "I was so amazed by the transformation of what used to be industrial pipe racks into a skywalk, which preserves the traditional industrial heritage and provides a great place for tourists to visit."

Samuel Timothy Sukhnandan, a reporter from National Communications Network (NCN) in Guyana, said, "Today's trip to Shougang was excellent and it is a very good example that the Winter Olympics facilities continue to be reused. The Beijing Winter Olympics is a global event and I believe that the Winter Olympic venues will also become important tourist attractions. I will also participate in the short video contest that opens today."

Rahool Basharat, a reporter from Pakistan Television Corporation, said, "I was both surprised and delighted by my visit to Shougang today. The transformation of a former steel mill into a sports arena is really a great idea that the rest of the world should learn from. I arrived in Beijing on June 28 and have already fallen in love with the city. I am very interested in the short video contest that opens today. I am a TV reporter and this short video contest will enable us to capture the city of Beijing through our lenses."

Thereafter, the organizers will also focus on highlighting the changes in the development of the capital in the new era, the follow-up utilization of the important heritage of major international activities, and the internationalization of Beijing. They will also organize a series of filming events, thereby telling the story of Beijing, making the voice of Beijing heard globally, presenting Beijing to the world as it is in a multi-dimensional and holistic manner, and setting the stage for the 20th CPC National Congress with concrete actions.
