Supporting the Capital’s Development in the New Era (Part III)

In 2024, Beijing’s people-to-people diplomacy focused on supporting the capital’s development in the new era. Efforts were directed at mobilizing resources and expanding channels to establish platforms for international and economic exchanges. The pooling of high-quality resources and the development of industrial hubs helped foster a favorable environment and conditions for the city’s high-standard opening up.

Enhancing Innovative Promotion of Beijing’s Image

Efforts are being made to enhance promotion in a subtle and empathetic manner, showcasing Beijing to the world as a confident, inclusive and open capital of a great nation.

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has leveraged the overseas social media platform “Visit Beijing” to showcase the city’s high-quality development achievements and the fulfilling lives of its residents. Currently, the platform has over 4.47 million followers, with more than 3,400 annual posts, 297 million exposures, and over 97 million video views. In the monthly ranking of international communication index among provincial-level cultural and tourism agencies, Beijing has secured the top position twice in the following three categories: Comprehensive International Communication Index, Facebook Communication Index, and TikTok Communication Index.

2024 Silk Road Rediscovery Tour of Beijing: Explore a Modernized City of Opportunities

The 2024 Silk Road Rediscovery Tour of Beijing, organized by the Information Office of Beijing Municipal People’s Government, brought together 14 foreign influencers from 12 countries, including Brazil and Albania. They experienced firsthand Beijing’s progress in promoting high-quality development and shared the latest, most beautiful, and best aspects of the city. Over 1,000 posts, including graphics, text, and videos, were released during the event, with a total of around 206 million views.

Celebrating International Day of Families Together - Beijing 2024

Beijing Women’s Federation launched the event “Celebrating International Day of Families Together - Beijing 2024” under the theme of “Science Carnival for Families”. The event drew nearly 300 participants citywide, including Chinese families and foreign ones from about 10 countries including Cuba, Algeria, Indonesia, and Iran. As a celebration of the International Day of Families, this gathering has strengthened the friendship between the people of Beijing and those from around the world.

“Cultures of China: Water Cube Cup” Chinese Songs Contest 2024

The “Cultures of China: Water Cube Cup” Chinese Songs Contest 2024, hosted by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, saw record-high participation, thanks to extensive promotion on international platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. The event reached 105 countries across five continents, accumulating over 15 million views. This not only enhanced participants’ appreciation of Chinese culture but also boosted Beijing’s global influence.
