The Beijing Foreign Affairs Office recently concluded a Consular Protection Training Camp with a series of activities, designed to meet safety needs of citizens planning to study, travel, or work abroad, as well as enterprises or institutions seeking overseas development. The camp aims to equip participants with strong risk-prevention awareness and enhanced emergency response capabilities.
The camp featured informative content and a practice-oriented approach, intending to help citizens and institutions gain a deeper understanding of overseas consular protection as well as channels and ways to seek consular protection and assistance, thus ensuring their overseas safety and sound development.
Consular protection safeguards study abroad
At present, there are great differences in public security, customs, culture, and education systems across major study-abroad destinations. Therefore, after comprehensive consideration, the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office invited consular protection experts from the education sector to design tailored courses for the camp. The experts thoroughly analyzed all kinds of typical cases, simulated such scenarios as theft, robbery and other emergencies, arranged diversified Q&A sessions, and imparted basic self-defense skills. In this way, trainees can better understand potential risks and learn coping strategies under corresponding circumstances, thereby constantly enhancing their capabilities for risk prevention.
Consular protection ensures safe travels abroad
The substantive and steady development of the Belt and Road Initiative has led to an increasing number of citizens to travel abroad. To help outbound tourists better understand potential risks and enhance their emergency response capabilities, the camp simulated various kinds of emergencies that may occur during their trips. It also carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation drills, displayed common safety protection items and taught practical first aid techniques. All these efforts, which integrated travel safety knowledge with practical skills, aim to minimize personal injuries and property losses for the trainees.
Consular protection secures smooth work abroad
The Beijing Foreign Affairs Office has long prioritized assisting companies and workers going global with safety protection, which underscores the importance of preventive consular protection. Relevant experts analyzed the enterprises’ security work through typical cases like the attacks on the shuttle buses of overseas Chinese companies, highlighting common hazards and risks. They also provided guidance on formulating emergency plans, which received unanimous approval and praise from enterprise representatives.
Consular protection ensures safe travels abroad. Going forward, the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office will continue to carry out promotional and educational activities on preventive consular protection to constantly raise security awareness and improve self-defense skills for citizens and institutions abroad. With these efforts, the Office will forge a strong shield and provide firm support for the safety of those abroad.
