On June 1, on the occasion of the Beijing Inbound Tourism Development Conference, Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall Tourism Service Co., Ltd. entered into a strategic partnership with Visa and officially unveiled China’s first “Visa Zone” at a World Heritage site. The two sides designated the Mutianyu Great Wall as the first location to pioneer international payment services for inbound travelers at World Cultural Heritage sites, helping Beijing become a preferred destination for inbound tourism in China.

As visa-free policies continue to be optimized, China’s inbound tourism market has seen a steady recovery. Statistics show that in 2025, China received 35.17 million inbound foreign tourists, up 30.5% year on year; exports of travel services approached RMB 400 billion, an increase of nearly 50% year on year. The continued growth in inbound tourism has increased demand for more efficient services and a better visitor experience across key cultural and tourism scenarios.

To further enhance the experience of international visitors, the Mutianyu Great Wall and Visa will upgrade the payment environment in the scenic area and surrounding commercial areas. By promoting innovative payment methods such as “scan-and-pay via camera”, improving foreign card acceptance, optimizing ticketing and shopping experiences, and strengthening diversified payment services, the two sides will set a new benchmark for inbound payment services.

As a World Cultural Heritage site and an important window for international exchanges, the Mutianyu Great Wall is accelerating the development of the “Great Wall International Reception Hall”. The aim is not only to make it easier for international visitors to arrive, but also to ensure they enjoy a seamless travel and shopping experience. Going forward, leveraging Mutianyu’s cultural and tourism resources and Visa’s global network, the two sides will also introduce international cultural, sports and tourism resources to further enhance the international profile of the Mutianyu Great Wall.
