On June 30, the Fourth Beijing Consular Protection Knowledge Contest, guided by the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and hosted by the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, was launched at the Watchtower Library.

In recent years, the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office has hosted various forms of activities to promote consular protection knowledge among citizens and enhance their awareness of overseas risk prevention and capabilities for emergency response. As a signature event of Beijing’s consular protection efforts, the Consular Protection Knowledge Contest focuses on implementing the Regulation of the People’s Republic of China on Consular Protection and Assistance (hereinafter referred to as the Regulation). Building on Beijing’s achievements in developing a consular protection publicity and education system, the contest follows the principle of “promoting learning and application through competition” and adopts a combined online-and-offline format. It encourages participants to learn about, understand, and apply consular protection knowledge by answering questions. The contest has been held for three consecutive years, attracting nearly 100,000 participants in total.

The contest launch was integrated with publicity and education activities. At the event, experts on overseas security delivered detailed presentation on overseas travel safety, emergency response, and related topics.

Experts Provide On-Site Guidance on Consular Protection

This year’s contest consists of four stages: preliminary selection, semi-finals, pre-final training, and the final. Participants may scan the QR code to take part in the preliminary selection from June 30 to August 15. The final is scheduled for early September, with one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and six excellent prizes to be presented. The contest covers the Regulation, the Guide to China’s Consular Protection and Assistance, the latest outcomes of Beijing’s publicity and education efforts on consular protection, and general knowledge on overseas anti-fraud measures.
