On June 30, a delegation of 18 foreign journalists from 15 countries in the Asia-Pacific region visited the Party School of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC and explored the Beijing Practice Themed Classroom of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. After the visit, international journalists left comments in the guestbook, expressing their sincere admiration for Beijing’s development achievements. Comments included “Beijing is a future-oriented global hub.” “Beijing’s development is amazing!”
Following the directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding Beijing’s development, the themed classroom offers a comprehensive look at the tangible outcomes of the capital’s transformation and development under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era through informative illustrated display panels, real-life cases, and documentary footage of the city’s development. It also showcases Beijing’s practical approaches and achievements in urban governance, improvement of people’s well-being, high-quality development, and other fields.
The vivid examples of the capital’s development in the new era presented in the classroom left a deep impression on the foreign journalists. “By the end of 2024, the total number of parks in Beijing had reached 1,100.” Siti Zanariah Nor Zin, a journalist with the Malaysian National News Agency, was deeply impressed by this. “Beijing has a large number of parks, providing residents with spaces for leisure and relaxation. At the same time, its highly advanced science and technology sector drives the city’s continuous development. The development approach that emphasizes a balance between promoting economic growth and improving people’s quality of life offers valuable experience for Malaysia.”
At the exhibition stands featuring brain-computer interfaces (BCI), humanoid robots, and rocket models, the foreign journalists whipped out their mobile phones to take photos. Moiz Farooq, an executive editor of Daily Ittehad Media Group of Pakistan, was most fascinated by the cutting-edge innovations. In his view, innovative technologies such as BCI can not only promote the development of related industries but also improve people’s lives. He believes that if these new technologies are effectively introduced in Pakistan, they will certainly drive greater economic and social progress.
Inside the immersive space of the “Fuxing bullet train”, a 360-degree panoramic screen surrounded the visitors as images of different historic buildings along the Central Axis shifted and swept past them. Nadia Ayu Soraya, a journalist with Indonesia’s Metro TV, said with admiration that Beijing’s achievements in science and technology are as dazzling as its history and culture. The robots, rockets and satellite models, and the magnificent views of the Central Axis presented through panoramic images, were all deeply impressive, giving her a true sense of the fusion of modern technology and ancient civilization.
On a large screen inside the classroom, big data from the 12345 Citizen Service Hotline was displayed in real time, including the number of public requests received, case resolution time, and the satisfaction rate. Ali Yoosuf, a consultant of the Maldives Orca Media Group, said that in Beijing, residents can quickly report problems through a single phone call, and the government will respond to and handle complaints promptly. This model of urban governance driven by citizens’ needs is truly remarkable.
The concrete examples of urban governance, ecological conservation, and scientific and technological innovation vividly demonstrate how Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era has taken root and deliver results in Beijing. The visit, which lasted more than an hour, also gave the foreign journalists a deeper understanding of China’s institutional strengths. On July 1, the CPC celebrated its 105th founding anniversary. Moiz Farooq said, “China’s remarkable development achievements are mainly attributable to the leadership of the CPC, which ensures the effective implementation of policy guidelines, strategic vision, and various policies.”
