Foreign Journalists Experiencing Beijing
Recently, the 2025 “Foreign Journalists Experiencing Beijing” special promotion event was held in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) — the city’s main hub for high-end, precision and advancedindustries. Nearly one hundred journalists from 91 countries visited Beijing’s latest technological landmarks. During the tour, some exclaimed that Beijing’s innovations set an example for the world.

During the packed itinerary, journalists explored landmarks such as the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics Co., Ltd., the 4S store for embodied intelligence robots, the robot-themed restaurant, and the Pony.ai Future Mobility Technology Pavilion, all connected by autonomous vehicles. This journey offered them an immersive experience of the city’s technological charm and dynamic innovation. At every stop, one word kept appearing in their remarks “Amazing.”

As the journalists entered the Pony.ai Future Mobility Technology Pavilion, they immediately gathered around three autonomous vehicles even before the staff began the introduction. Cameras pointed at the steering wheels, LiDAR and other components, capturing every detail up close. Some journalists even started live-streaming on the spot, showcasing the “Beijing solution” for autonomous driving to their overseas audiences.

“It’s actually driving on real city roads—with pedestrians and vehicles right next to us!” exclaimed a journalist from Serbia riding in an autonomous car in E-Town. Throughout the journey, she closely observed every operational detail, finding the vehicle’s smoothoperation at traffic lights and during turns particularly fascinating.

Soon, the foreign journalists arrived at Robot-World in autonomous vehicles and entered the world’s first 4S store for embodied intelligence robots. As the doors slowly opened, a giant robotic arm descended from above. The visitors reached out to touch it, stepping into a fantastical world of robots.

“What’s your name?” asked the journalists in different languages. The robot “Einstein” at the entrance switched languages correctly and replied, “Hello, I am Einstein.” Nearby, a troupe of robots, eachonly 20 to 30 centimeters tall, performed a lively and synchronized dance routine.

The Serbian journalist lingered in front of various robots and cultural creative products, taking out her phone to scan the QR code and follow the 4S store’s WeChat official account. “This is so much fun! I’m going to bring back some small gifts for my son,” she said.

“China’s technological innovation is leading the world!” said a journalist from The Gambia who arrived in China in August and has since been paying particular attention to the technology sector. What impressed him most was a cup of coffee he had at the Robot Restaurant, a robot-themed restaurant in Beijing. “The coffee was made by a robot,” he said, “but it tasted even better than many made by human.” The experience, he added, gave him a vivid sense of Beijing’s rich technological atmosphere.

A journalist from Egypt said that although she had visited Beijing many times, it was her first time visiting E-Town, and she found the area’s technological atmosphere refreshing. “China is truly changing with each passing day!” she exclaimed, deeply impressed by the safe operation of the autonomous vehicles. She said Beijing’s achievements in this sector set an example globally—especially for Egypt, where frequent traffic accidents could potentially be mitigated through autonomous driving technologies.

Throughout the day, the Egyptian journalist kept filming, eager to share the captivating scenes with her friends in Egypt so that they can also experience the technological charm of Beijing. Many other journalists shared the same sentiment, uploading photos and videos to social media to present the image of an innovative Beijing to a wider audience.
It is learned that several special sessions of the 2025 “Foreign Journalists Experiencing Beijing” series have already been held. The event actively promotes Beijing’s investment environment and opportunities, and highlights its favorable business climate and urban image. It aims to further deepen international cooperation, and support the capital’s high-quality development and high-standard opening up.
