During the evening rush hour, an autonomous bus carrying international guests of the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting travelled smoothly in Beijing. When asked about safety concerns, David Lopez, a consultant from the International Association for Human Rights and Social Development, Switzerland, replied, “I trust China’s technology!”

On the afternoon of July 11, a series of field visits were arranged for international guests of the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting. They explored the Lize Financial Business District to experience the convenience of a modern metropolis; visited the Beijing Citizen Hotline Service Center, which serves as “A Bridge of Love” and provides swift responses to public complaints; and toured the Xiaomi EV Hyperfactory to experience the exhilarating 2.78-second acceleration of the Xiaomi SU7.

“I look forward to returning to Beijing to explore the Lize City Terminal once it is completed,” said Charles Silava Kafa, Assistant Minister of Education and Human Resources Development of the Solomon Islands, while overlooking the under-construction terminal from Cloud Reception Hall on the 52nd floor of Lize SOHO, a landmark in the Lize financial business district.

The Lize Financial Business District stands as a new landmark in Beijing’s urban development. What particularly impressed Kafa was the upcoming Lize City Terminal. Once operational, passengers will be able to check in and drop off luggage here before reaching Beijing Daxing International Airport by subway in just 30 minutes. At the Huawei 5G Lab in Lize SOHO, international guests experienced cutting-edge 5G communication technologies and their application scenarios up close. Kafa, who was visiting Beijing for the first time, described it as a “golden opportunity” to attend the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting. He said, “Solomon Islands is very small. I have never seen a city as vast and developed as Beijing.”

The guests then visited the Beijing Citizen Hotline Service Center, a public service platform established by the Beijing municipal government. Through the Beijing 12345 hotline, the center provides efficient and responsive services to the public by proactively and swiftly addressing requests made by individuals and businesses within the city’s administrative purview. During the visit, Georgii Kamnev, Member of the Presidium and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, was drawn to a banner on the wall with the English phrase “A Bridge of Love”. After learning from staff that the banner was a gift from a foreign national whose family dispute had been resolved through the 12345 hotline’s mediation, he gave a thumbs-up.

After a test ride in the Xiaomi SU7 at the Xiaomi EV Hyperfactory, the international guests were amazed by the vehicle’s rapid 2.78-second acceleration and the intense push-back sensation it delivered. Okei Rukogota, Assistant Director of External Affairs of Uganda’s National Resistance Movement, exclaimed, “It felt like a powerful boost of energy instantly propelling you to extreme speed. That’s amazing!”

The guests then experienced autonomous driving at the Innovative Operation Center of the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone. Despite the fact that the test ride took place during the evening rush hour, amid complex road conditions, the autonomous bus travelled smoothly. When asked about safety concerns, David Lopez, a consultant from the International Association for Human Rights and Social Development, Switzerland, replied, “Not at all. I’ve read extensively about AI, and I trust China’s technology!”
