The opening ceremony of the Embassy of Nauru in China was held in Beijing on March 31. Lionel Rouwen Aingimea, Nauru’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, made a special trip to China for the ceremony.

Lionel Rouwen Aingimea said in Beijing that Nauru will not waver in its stance of adhering to the one-China principle and looks forward to continuously expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields and taking the bilateral relations to new heights.

On January 24, 2024, China and Nauru resumed diplomatic relations on the basis of the one-China principle, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. Nauru thus became the 183rd country to establish diplomatic relations with China. Since the resumption, China-Nauru relations have shown a robust momentum with fruitful results.
