Journalists from 45 Countries Experience the Development of Beijing Municipal Administrative Center through Promotions, Enterprise Tours, and Grand Canal Visits

On March 13, the Foreign Journalists Experiencing Beijing 2025: Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) was successfully held. Co-hosted by the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and the Tongzhou District People’s Government, the event brought together 50 foreign journalists from 45 countries, offering them a chance to personally feel the vitality of this millennia-old city.

At the Beijing “Two Zones” Reception Hall, foreign journalists watched The Bilingual Promotional Video on Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, learning about BMC’s innovative practices and opening-up achievements in the development of the “two zones” in a comprehensive way.

Setting off from Daguanglou Wharf, the journalists were captivated by the picturesque Grand Canal banks, where spring’s vitality was in full bloom. The ancient simplicity of the millennial Lighthouse Pagoda stood in perfect harmony with the modernity of the Grand Canal CBD, prompting the foreign journalists to take photos nonstop. Many of them even started live streaming on-site, sharing their experiences with lively description.

A journalist from Kyrgyzstan remarked that the boat tour on the Grand Canal offered them an impressive view of the city’s scenery. The landscapes along the canal showcased both the area’s long history and its modern urban center, giving him a completely fresh perspective on urban progress.

The Beijing Library, acclaimed as the “Forest of Knowledge”, was designed under the concept of “Nestled between the Hills and Trees for Diligent Reading”. The poetic lake and mountain scenery has been brought into the shared hall, blending perfectly into both indoor and outdoor spaces. Foreign journalists climbed the stairs and wandered between the valley-like reading area and the glass curtain wall, marveling at the wonderful fusion of knowledge and aesthetics.

A journalist from Duma in Bulgaria said, “To be honest, I don’t even want to leave here (The Beijing Library).” She praised the library’s beautiful canopy-like roof, which enables the full use of natural light, providing readers with an ideal reading environment. Moreover, the integration of high-tech such as facial recognition for book management makes the borrowing process incredibly convenient.

At the special promotion conference held in Beijing Future Design Park, Li Xianxia, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Tongzhou District Committee and Executive Deputy District Mayor of Tongzhou District, gave an overview of the planning and construction progress of BMC, the development of advantageous industries, and key project layout. Beijing ZKSK Technology Co., Ltd. and Bevone Electric, two companies with global expansion ambitions, were specially invited to showcase their sci-tech innovations during this session. These presentations were well-received. Some journalists, upon learning these companies already operated in their home markets, eagerly sought project specifics while expressing consistent admiration for the BMC’s scientific innovation breakthroughs.”

Following the presentation, foreign journalists also engaged in discussions with officials from the Foreign Affairs Office, Science and Technology Commission, Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, and Investment Promotion Center of Tongzhou District, exploring opportunities for practical cooperation.

A Honduran journalist stated that through the promotion, he gained clearer insights into how Tongzhou, as the BMC, has consistently implemented business-friendly policies, attracted investments, and promoted industrial collaboration and coordinated development, all of which have achieved significant results.

Foreign journalists also visited the industrial parks and sci-tech enterprises in BMC. At ColorFuLead Power (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., they explored innovative products such as the dual-purpose energy cabins designed for both emergency and daily urban use, witnessing how technology facilitates urban life. At BOE Ewin, they experienced the latest display technologies and smart terminal products, marveling at the power of science and technology. At Wisson Robotics, interactive flexible modules and self-charging outdoor robots sparked great interest among the journalists, with infinite possibilities of future technology.

A Rwandan journalist, who is a sci-tech enthusiast, described the visit to these science and technology enterprises as a journey into the future.

A Yemeni journalist was deeply impressed by the smooth operation of the automatic charging robots, remarking, “China’s remarkable advancements in AI and robotics are truly impressive which also present numerous collaboration opportunities for countries like ours.”

An Argentine journalist noted that only by seeing it with one’s own eyes could one truly grasp the precision, automation, and sheer scale of this operation. Meeting the brilliant minds behind products typically seen only in science fiction movies left him in complete awe.

The foreign journalists also visited the Beijing Oriental Treasure (Dongfang Yizhen) Filigree Inlay Factory, where they closely observed and experienced the exquisite craftsmanship of the traditional filigree and inlay techniques.

This event marks the first in the “Foreign Journalists Experiencing Beijing 2025” series of promotions. This year, the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office will continue to organize special promotions for foreign media outlets. These events aim to actively showcase Beijing’s investment environment and opportunities, highlight its business-friendly climate and international image, strengthen global cooperation with greater efforts, and support the high-quality development and high-level opening-up of the capital city.
