During the 22nd International Awards for Liveable Communities/LivCom Awards Finals, “Guangyanggu Urban Forest Park” (hereinafter referred to as “the Park”) in Xicheng District, Beijing, secured the Gold Award of the “Environmentally Sustainable Projects”. It also claimed the only Special Award for receiving the highest score in the “Enhancement of the Landscapes and Public Spaces” review.

Launched in 1997, the LivCom Awards is known as the “Green Oscar” for being the only world competition covering critical issues like urban and community environmental management, ecological conservation, resource utilization, humanity and nature, and sustainable development.

The judges gave the Park high recognition after evaluating it on six criteria, including Enhancement of the Landscapes and Public Spaces, Arts, Culture and Heritage Management, Environmental Protection and Green Economy, Community Participation and Empowerment, Healthy Lifestyle, and Sustainable Planning and Management Policies. Notably, the Park received the highest score among all contestants in “Enhancement of the Landscapes and Public Spaces”.

Located at the intersection of Xuanwumen Outer Street and Caishikou Street, the Park covers an area of 47,000 square meters and stands as Beijing’s first “urban forest” demonstrative green space. Initiated in 2017 and generally completed in 2019, the Park is operated under a “landscape plus life” approach, serving as a “forest at the doorstep” and “home in the forest” for citizens by integrating ecology, landscape, culture, and leisure.
