From November 11 to 12, the 2024 Training Program for Newly Appointed Leadership Members of Provincial, Regional, and Municipal Foreign Affairs Offices was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. A total of 22 newly appointed leadership members from 18 provincial, regional, and municipal foreign affairs offices participated in the training. This program was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government. Director-Generals from the Department of Foreign Affairs Management and related departments of the MFA gave lectures based on their work experience, and had in-depth exchanges with the participants.

The participating officials stated that the well-organized training program was highly policy-oriented, instructive, timely, and practical. The lectures are expected to play a positive role in further enhancing the planning, coordination, and execution of foreign affairs at the subnational level. The exchanges have advanced both top-down alignment and peer-learning among the participants. Local government departments and the foreign affairs system will seize this opportunity to resolutely implement the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs. They are committed to serving the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and the high-quality regional development, thus making new achievements in local foreign affairs in the new era.
