The 4th “Beijing - A Global City” Short Video Contest
The fourth offline shooting event of the 4th “Beijing - A Global City” Short Video Contest took place on November 8. Over 30 Chinese and international students from countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan, Albania, and Nepal, as well as representatives of past winners of the “Beijing - A Global City” Short Video Contest, visited various sites such as Beijing Daxing International Airport, Silk Street, and SOLANA Lifestyle Shopping Park. They had the opportunity to gain firsthand experience of Beijing’s international service and convenient payment methods.
Beijing Daxing International Airport
- “Demonstration Zone of Payment Services for Overseas Visitors”
When viewed from a distance, Beijing Daxing International Airport shines brightly under the gentle autumn sunlight, appearing as if adorned with a golden veil, reminiscent of a grand and mysterious phoenix ready to soar. Participants had the opportunity to personally experience the convenient payment options available at the airport’s unitedmoney Currency Exchange Center, Forbidden City Gifts Store, and Payment Service Center for Overseas Visitors. The diverse range of payment methods left them impressed with the user-friendly experience.
Omar Mahmoud Khalaf Dabie, a doctoral student from Pakistan at the Communication University of China, expressed his excitement about his first visit to Beijing Daxing International Airport. He praised the exceptional experience he had, highlighting China’s rapid development of payment services. He emphasized the ease of doing everything in China, noting that such convenience is unparalleled worldwide.
This February, Beijing Daxing International Airport officially launched the program to become a Demonstration Zone of Payment Services for Overseas Visitors, offering a wide range of payment options for foreign visitors to China, including overseas bank card payment, QR code payment, and currency exchange. The comprehensive, multi-channel, and multi-dimensional payment environment has significantly enhanced the convenience for international tourists, effectively meeting their needs for payment services.
Silk Street
- “Many Payment Options Available”
Visitors can choose from a variety of payment options such as QR code payment, cash, and card payment to buy silk gifts, traditional crafts, and custom suits. They can even use Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and other foreign cards for tap-and-go payments. As a famous shopping destination in Beijing, Silk Street is frequently visited by foreigners travelling to China.

SOLANA Lifestyle Shopping Park
- “Inbound Consumer-Friendly Commercial Area”
This April, SOLANA Lifestyle Shopping Park was designated as the first “Inbound Consumer-Friendly Commercial Area” in China. To enhance the payment convenience for overseas customers, SOLANA has introduced a variety of payment services, including credit card payment, mobile payment, and cash payment. At the same time, the commercial area has actively improved its service standards by setting up more bilingual signs and information desks. Various restaurants have also provided English menus, and more bilingual staff have been recruited and trained, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for foreign customers. “SOLANA offers many international and convenient payment methods, making it an ideal place for foreign tourists to shop and experience the cultural atmosphere,” said Liu Lulu.
As night fell, the guests enjoyed a dazzling light show at the Blue Harbor Pier on the Liangma River International Waterfront. “This place is really comfortable and visually stunning. I love it!” exclaimed Liu Zhichen, an international student from the Communication University of China.
Li Du Space
At the Li Du Space, the visitors had the opportunity to witness 40 foreign nationals becoming the first group of “International Friendship Ambassadors”. This initiative aims to improve the international services in Beijing and establish a regular communication channel with foreigners in the city, so as to attract more international visitors to come to Beijing, understand the city, and fall in love with it.
After the event, Xu Shiman, a representative of previous winners, stated, “During the filming of our entries last year, we had in-depth conversations with some foreign friends and felt their love for Beijing. Today is my first time participating in an offline shooting event of the contest, which not only allows me to immerse in the atmosphere of Beijing as an international metropolis but also inspires me to create more works that tell the stories of Beijing and China.”
As of now, the offline themed shooting events for the 4th “Beijing-A Global City” Short Video Contest have successfully concluded. The submission deadline for this year’s Short Video Contest is approaching on November 15. Participants are reminded to be aware of the deadline and actively engage by posting their videos on Kuaishou, WeChat Channels, and Douyin with the hashtag #Beijing - A Global City 2024#.
