Daxing and Other Districts Actively Advance International Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector

Focusing on the high-quality development of the capital, districts in Beijing are actively advancing international exchanges and cooperation to present Chinese modernization to the world and strengthen Beijing’s role as a center for international exchanges through concrete actions.

Daxing District:

Officials and Ambassadors from Developing Countries Visit Specialized Agricultural Parks

Recently, a group of officials and ambassadors from developing countries visited Daxing District to explore rural revitalization.

The delegation visited the model villages for comprehensive rural revitalization and specialized agricultural parks. In Longtou Village, Lixian Town, they visited a stone mill workshop, an artistic steamed bun workshop, and a lantern workshop to experience the intangible cultural heritage. In Lijiachang Village, Weishanzhuang Town, they toured a mushroom industrial park, village forest, a farmer experience park, among other sites. At Beijing Sijiyangkun Agricultural Company in Panggezhuang Town, the largest intensive seedling cultivation base in the city, visitors learned about protective agriculture, cultivation and sales of specialty agricultural products, and more.

The foreign participants expressed that this field visit has enhanced their understanding of China’s work regarding agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. They will bring the valuable experience to their home countries to further promote economic and social development.

Pinggu District:

Delegates from Norinchukin Research Institute Co., Ltd. Explore Rural Revitalization

Recently, a delegation led by Minakawa Yoshitsugu, Chief Counselor of the Norinchukin Research Institute Co., Ltd., visited Pinggu District to learn about the district’s experience and practices in rural revitalization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

The delegation visited a new-type rural community serving as dual-use public infrastructure in Nanshan Village to learn about the renovation of various infrastructure. They also toured the Beijing National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Port to gain insights into its planning and construction. Lastly, they visited the Guononggang Supply and Marketing Village Livestreaming Industrial Park to understand its operation models and the role of livestreaming e-commerce in supporting agricultural development.

Relevant officials from Pinggu District had in-depth exchanges with the Japanese delegation, with the aim of building a bridge for further pragmatic cooperation in agriculture.

Yanqing District:

The Global South I-Dialogue on Agriculture Successfully Held

Recently, the Global South I-Dialogue on Agriculture was successfully held at the Beijing Shi Yuan International Tourism Resort, bringing together international representatives to discuss global cooperation in agricultural development.

The Global South I-Dialogue on Agriculture aims to pool wisdom and resources from the Global South to cultivate new drivers for cooperation in agricultural development. Approximately 200 participants attended the event, including government representatives from developing countries such as Sri Lanka, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Morocco, and Uganda; delegates from international organizations such as the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the World Food Programme, the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in China, the South Centre, and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa; as well as representatives from financial institutions such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation.

During the event, Yanqing District arranged sessions for agricultural resource promotion and intangible cultural heritage displays, to build a bridge for its agricultural products to “go global”. Fresh-eating corn, ganoderma noodles, and other organic agricultural products, along with agriculture & tourism brands of “Southeast Mountain of Yanqing: Nine Turns and 18 Bends” and rural revitalization demonstration areas of “The Enchanting Jingzhuang Town”, were all showcased.
