The G-SIFIs Meeting, one of the sessions of the Annual Conference of the Financial Street Forum 2024, was held in Beijing on October 19. Representatives from central financial regulators, international financial organizations, and global systemically important financial institutions, exchanged insights and proposed policy recommendations on issues such as support for sci-tech innovation, and the application and far-reaching impact of new technologies in the financial sector.
Aligned with the plans and requirements of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and China’s central financial work conference to develop five major areas of finance (technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, and digital finance), the G-SIFIs Meeting, themed “Innovation-Driven Development and Financial Reform”, tracked global trends in scientific and technological revolution, as well as developments in financial technology. Representatives from government departments and financial institutions engaged in in-depth discussions and proposed policy suggestions. Sun Shuo, Vice Mayor of Beijing, attended and addressed the meeting.
The inaugural G-SIFIs Meeting was held during the Annual Conference of the Financial Street Forum 2020. Since then, the event has exerted greater international influence, drawing representatives from 29 global systemically important financial institutions this year. Notably, the 2024 edition explored how to establish effective coordination with renowned international financial conferences for the first time, highlighting the meeting’s significance as a high-level, international, and leading communication platform.
