On September 23, the establishment ceremony of the Beijing Representative Office of the PLCopen (Netherlands) concluded successfully, marking the official establishment of another international organization in the capital. The ceremony was attended by over 30 participants, including members from the PLCopen headquarters and Beijing Representative Office, officials from the Overseas NGO Management Office of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, renowned experts and scholars from home and abroad, and representatives from industry associations and of entrepreneurs.
PLCopen, founded in 1992, is a non-governmental international organization established by leading industrial automation companies such as Siemens, Phoenix Contact, Omron, Schneider Electric, and Rockwell Automation, with its headquarters located in the Netherlands. The organization has long been dedicated to the advancement of industrial control software technology and standardization, making significant contributions through the development of the IEC 61131-3 international standard and its associated technical specifications. In recent years, Beijing has intensified its efforts to attract high-quality international organizations, which is crucial to enhancing its role as a center for international exchanges. To date, under the coordination of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, PLCopen and five other international organizations have established their presence in the city.
The Chairman of PLCopen, Chairman of PLCopen China, and Chief Representative of the Beijing Office addressed the ceremony. As the competent authority, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology offered three suggestions to the PLCopen Beijing Representative Office: First, conducting daily operations in compliance with applicable regulations, ensuring that all activities are filed in accordance with the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations in the Mainland of China; Second, strengthening communication and information exchange with government departments; Third, deepening collaboration by leveraging its advantages as an international organization in attracting enterprise resources, to jointly promote the development of Beijing’s industrial control sector in alignment with international standards. The Beijing Representative Office is encouraged to serve as a platform for international technological exchanges and cooperation, thereby creating more development opportunities for the industrial automation sector in Beijing and across the country.
The attending guests witnessed the unveiling ceremony of PLCopen Beijing Representative Office. Beijing will collaborate with the office to create an international communication platform for industrial automation, facilitating PLCopen’s efforts to gain widespread recognition and achieve worldwide application of its standards through a series of international exchange activities, such as standard seminars, technology exhibitions, and joint R&D projects. This initiative also aims to enhance mutual recognition of industrial automation technologies and build a leading hub for international exchanges in this field. PLCopen Beijing Representative Office will accelerate the promotion of PLCopen standards in China, organizing various technology exchanges to help China’s industrial automation technologies align with international standards and facilitate the application of PLCopen technology in the country. Currently, two technology specifications advocated by the office are being developed into national standards.
