Focusing on the high-quality development of the capital, districts in Beijing are actively engaging in foreign exchanges and cooperation to present Chinese modernization to the world and strengthen Beijing’s role as a center for international exchanges through concrete actions.


Xicheng District:

Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Visits Jiugulou Community in Shichahai Sub-district

Recently, a delegation led by Vivian Balakrishnan, Chairman of the External Relations Committee of the People’s Action Party and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, visited the Jiugulou Community in Shichahai Sub-district, Xicheng District.

The delegation toured the community reception hall, the activity room, and the Central Axis Cultural Hall, gaining an in-depth understanding of the history of the Jiugulou community, the preservation of Central Axis culture, and the community’s dedication to serving the people. The community Tai Chi team presented an impressive performance at the non-profit theater, winning rounds of applause. The delegation also showed a keen interest in traditional folk art of Chinese New Year woodblock paintings, and even imprinted the emblem of the People’s Action Party of Singapore onto their work as they tried the art themselves.

Vivian Balakrishnan expressed his excitement at the opportunity to experience the profound and time-honored Chinese culture. Meanwhile, he was impressed by the renovation of the old urban areas in Xicheng District and the efficient governance at the community level. The Jiugulou Community is a perfect blend of history and modernity, where one can witness the intersection of the past and the present. It embodies the new look of the ancient capital, the new charm of the Central Axis culture, and a genuine commitment to serving the people. Vivian Balakrishnan looked forward to strengthening exchanges and mutual learning in areas such as culture and primary-level governance to create a better future together.


Shijingshan District:

Omani Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Visits Shougang Park

A delegation headed by Khalfan Al Shueili, Omani Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, visited Shougang Park recently.

The delegation gained insights into the history of Shougang Group and saw for themselves how the blast furnace was transformed from an industrial facility to a large exhibition venue. They ascended to the viewing platform of Blast Furnace No. 3 to overlook the entire park, and visited the Shangri-La Hotel and Big Air Shougang to learn about the efforts made by Shijingshan District and Shougang Group in better utilizing industrial heritage and promoting the transformation and development of the park as a whole.

The visitors highly praised the efforts and achievements of Shijingshan District and Shougang Park in the renovation of old industrial areas and urban renewal, expressing a strong desire to learn from these practices.


Shunyi District:

Dubai Enterprises Visit Shunyi District

Recently, a delegation of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Emirates, Dubai Holding, and TECOM Group visited Shunyi District.

The Dubai delegation visits Li Auto

Shunyi District provided the delegation with a detailed introduction about the district’s robust industrial foundation, favorable business environment, and abundant talent resources, highlighting emerging industries such as new energy vehicles (NEVs) and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). The guests visited Li Auto and gained insights into the company’s intelligent manufacturing, vehicle performance, and related operations.

The guests showed a keen interest in NEVs and ICVs, expressing their hope to take this visit as an opportunity to further exchanges and cooperation in related fields in the future.


Miyun District:

2024 International Apicultural Asia Regional Symposium Kicks Off

The 2024 International Apicultural Asia Regional Symposium was held in Miyun District recently. Themed “Honeybee, Sweetening Every Aspect of Life”, the symposium attracted over 500 attendees, including leading experts, scholars and industry representatives in apiculture from around the world.

The three-day symposium featured in-depth exchanges across three sub-forums on “Bee Breeding and Conservation”, “Bee Ecology and Management”, and “Bee Products and Rural Revitalization”. Esteemed guests from the Apimondia and its Asian Commission, along with leading experts and scholars in apiculture from around the world, shared their research progress, overviews of the apiculture industry in their countries, and typical experiences and practices, providing intellectual support for the development of the apiculture industry in Asia and globally.

Coinciding with the symposium, the 2024 Apimondia Asian Apiculture Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition and the First Beijing Miyun Apiculture Carnival took place.
