Recently, a delegation led by Tulia Ackson, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, visited the local legislative liaison office of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Chaoyang District.
The foreign delegation visited the Deputies’ Office and Legislative Liaison Station of the Nanmofang Township People’s Congress, where they gained insights into the system of deputies receiving voters and their role in national legislation and governance.

Representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union eagerly engaged with relevant officials from Chaoyang District on various topics, such as the election process and performance of deputies at all levels, channels for deputies to connect with the people, feedback mechanisms for collecting public opinions and suggestions, and grassroots practices for enhancing the role of female deputies. The delegation was impressed by the District People’s Congress’s ability to address over 200 suggestions and opinions each year. They also commended the online platform of the Deputy Liaison Station, which allows for real-time interaction between deputies and voters, overcoming time and space limitations.
