Beijing’s convention and exhibition industry is making progress in branding, specialization, and internationalization. On June 13, the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau issued a notice on the application of incentive projects for promoting the growth of Beijing’s convention and exhibition industry in 2024, outlining supportive measures for convention and exhibition projects. This year, international specialized exhibitions held in Beijing, as well as new high-quality exhibitions, are eligible for incentives of up to one million yuan.
To support the introduction of large-scale international specialized exhibitions with global influence, the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau will provide incentives of up to one million yuan for exhibitions with an area of at least 10,000 square meters, over 20% of which are used by international exhibitors (including those from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and foreign-invested and joint-venture enterprises).
High-quality exhibitions held in Beijing for the first time will also be incentivized. Such exhibitions covering 10,000 square meters or above will be rewarded with 500,000 yuan. Additionally, the reward will increase by 300,000 yuan for each additional 10,000 square meters, with a maximum reward of one million yuan.
Beijing will continue to boost the growth of high-quality exhibitions. This year, exhibitions with an area of 10,000 to 30,000 square meters that are larger than their previous editions will be rewarded. Specifically, those with an area of 10,000 square meters or more will receive 200,000 yuan for every 5,000 square meters increase over their previous size, with an upper limit of 800,000 yuan. Those of no less than 20,000 square meters will be given 300,000 yuan for every 5,000 square meters increase, with a ceiling of 600,000 yuan.
According to the notice, the project applicant must be either the organizer or the actual contractor of the exhibition. The application process consists of two rounds: projects completed between January 1 and August 1 must be submitted by August 10 of this year; projects completed between August 1 and December 31 must be submitted by January 10 of the following year.
