The 29th World Gas Conference (WGC2025) is scheduled to take place in Beijing from May 19-23, 2025, marking its inaugural appearance in China. The conference is expected to be the largest ever, with more than 3,000 participants from over 70 countries and regions. Attendees will delve into promising trends and business opportunities, share experiences and technologies, and jointly promote the innovation and development of the energy industry.
WGC, widely regarded as the “Olympics” of the global gas industry, serves as a platform that brings together international organizations, leading energy companies, experts and scholars, and other prominent figures in the industry. As the flagship event of the International Gas Union (IGU), the conference is held every three years in the country of origin of the serving IGU president. Next May, this nearly century-old industry carnival will be hosted for the first time in China, at the China National Convention Center Phase II in Beijing, under the theme of “Energising a Sustainable Future”. Experts believe that the future of the industry lies in the integration of natural gas and renewable energy, and that natural gas will be instrumental in China’s efforts to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
Centering on six subjects, the conference will feature more than a hundred sessions, including a main forum and various sub-forums. Over 500 speakers will be invited, including government officials, heads of international organizations, leaders of world-renowned energy companies, and top industry experts and scholars. There will also be a 50,000-square-meter exhibition, which is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors.
