Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Holds Meeting for Beijing Enterprises on Fulfillment of Overseas Corporate Social Responsibility

As it steadily advances the education campaign on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office has made solid efforts to ensure that foreign-related work really delivers for the people. To this end, the Office held a meeting on fulfilling overseas corporate social responsibility for Beijing enterprises at AFRICAN COFFEE. Sun Lihui, Director of the Development Department of China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC) and Executive Vice Secretary-General of Alliance of Chinese Business in Africa for Social Responsibilities (ACBASR), was invited to deliver a special lecture on “Social Responsibility Risks and Responses for China’s Overseas Investments”. Representatives from Beijing Capital Development Holding Group (BCDH), BAIC Group, Beijing TRT Group, Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG), Zhonghao Overseas Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. (ZOCEC), and Beijing Sifang Automation Co., Ltd.(SIFANG) were also invited to introduce their overseas investment and share their experience in fulfilling overseas corporate social responsibility.

Yu Haiyong, Member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Deputy Director General of Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office said that international exchanges and cooperation of Beijing enterprises is an important part of the capital’s foreign affairs work, and plays an active role in supporting major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, building Beijing into the national center for international exchanges, and making China’s and Beijing’s voice heard. He hoped that Beijing enterprises will actively fulfill their overseas social responsibility and contribute to people-to-people exchanges.

The participating enterprises expressed that the meeting, by providing a platform for communication and cooperation, deepened their understanding of the importance of fulfilling overseas corporate social responsibility. The thematic lecture was theoretical- and policy-oriented, offering them valuable references with practical and useful response cases. The enterprises also wished Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office would provide further guidance on foreign-related policies, country-specific education, and talent training.

Going forward, the Office will give full play to the role of enterprises as major players in people-to-people diplomacy and promote experience sharing in fulfilling overseas corporate social responsibility through the platform of Beijing People-to-People Diplomacy Talent Training Base. Efforts will also be made to ensure that foreign affairs-related training meets the needs of enterprises and offers effective guidance for their overseas business expansion. The aim is to translate the achievements of the thematic education into progress in the high-quality people-to-people diplomacy of Beijing in the new era.
