On September 4, the General Administration of Customs hosted the Summit on Boosting High-Quality Economic Development and Promoting Border Bio-security through Technical Measures to Trade in Beijing, one of the parallel sessions of the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services. Representatives from ministries, local governments, professional institutions, enterprises, China's Customs system and diplomatic missions in China attended the meeting.
Under the theme of technical measures to trade, the forum took place in the form of keynote speeches, roundtables and so on. The participants discussed the unique definitions and characteristics of the measures under new circumstances, how these measures can contribute to high-quality growth and border biosecurity, and their impact on China's governance system.
In the context of the global economy and trade, this forum explored technical measures' vital role in balancing security and facilitation, and serving high-level openness and high-quality development. A four-point initiative was proposed. First, building a strategic system of technical measures to trade by deepening the supply-side structural reform; second, implementing international standards and speeding up the connectivity of quality infrastructure; third, enhancing the ability to prevent and defuse major security risks; fourth, strengthening international cooperation and find ways to balance security and facilitation in technical measures to trade. These ideas have been commended and well received by all attendees.
Yang Jinbai, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Beijing, attended the summit and delivered a speech.
