On March 20, the 17th Meeting of International Business Leaders Advisory Council (IBLAC) for the Mayor of Beijing was held. Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, attended the meeting.

In his opening remarks, Yin Yong introduced Beijing’s economic and social development. He noted that, over the past five years, Beijing has advanced its strategic positioning by strengthening its role as the Four Centers and its capacity to deliver the Four Services. The city has promoted high-quality development through the coordinated implementation of the Five Key Initiatives, improved people’s wellbeing through better social services in seven aspects and meeting public expectations for a better life in five areas, and continuously improved the ecological environment. Beijing has explored a new path for the transformation and development of a super-large city under a growth model that reduces key inputs, completing the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing will leverage its strengths in education, science and technology, and talent to reinforce innovation-driven development. The city will foster and expand emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and biomedicine, and accelerate the development of new quality productive forces. Focusing on relocating functions not essential to Beijing’s role as the capital, efforts will be made to promote the coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region, primarily by developing a modernized capital metropolitan area and the Beijing (Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei) International Center for Science and Technology Innovation. In addition, Beijing will continue building a Beautiful Beijing, advancing from forest city and park city initiatives toward the development of a garden city. Yin Yong emphasized that the IBLAC serves as an important platform for gathering global insights and deepening practical cooperation, and encouraged advisors to share their perspectives and contribute valuable insights for Beijing’s high-quality development.

The one-day meeting included thematic dialogues and a closed-door session. Twelve business advisors delivered remarks, highly commending the development achievements of China and Beijing, and recognizing the city’s strengths in innovation resources, industrial ecosystem, and business environment. They offered suggestions on topics such as trends in technological and industrial development, global innovation collaboration, super-large city governance, service empowerment and industrial value co-creation, and the role of technology and services in supporting sustainable urban development. They also expressed commitment to further invest in China and deepen their presence in Beijing.

In his concluding remarks, Yin Yong said that the advisors had engaged in in-depth discussions on fostering new growth drivers, strengthening the city’s competitive advantages, unlocking the potential of existing resources, and promoting green and sustainable development. He noted that their valuable suggestions would be carefully studied and translated into concrete measures to advance Beijing’s high-quality development. Looking ahead, Beijing will continue to deepen high-standard opening up and accelerate the development of a world-class, harmonious, and livable metropolis. He encouraged all advisors to continue to play a leading role in their industries, further expand and deepen cooperation with Beijing, and build more efficient connections and partnerships to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes between enterprise growth and Beijing’s high-quality development. He also expressed Beijing’s strong commitment to foster a world-class business environment, continuously improve the overall urban environment, and provide higher-quality services to support enterprises in their development in Beijing.

Yin Yong also presented certificates of appointment to seven newly appointed advisors at the meeting.

Municipal leaders Jin Wei, Sima Hong, Sun Shuo, Wen Xian, Tang Wenhong, and Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, also attended the meeting.
