On  the afternoon of November 26, 2024, President Xi Jinping met with  Senior Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong at the Diaoyutai State  Guesthouse in Beijing.

Commending  the remarkable achievements Singapore made during Lee Hsien Loong's  tenure as Prime Minister of Singapore, Xi Jinping spoke highly of Lee  Hsien Loong's long-time care and support for China-Singapore  cooperation. Xi Jinping pointed out that the two sides established an  all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership between China and  Singapore last year, setting a strategic course for the development of  bilateral relations. Noting that next year marks the 35th anniversary of  the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore,  Xi Jinping called on the two countries to strengthen high-level  exchanges, further synergize development strategies, deepen cooperation  across the board, bring more benefits to the peoples, and make greater  contributions to regional peace and prosperity.

Xi  Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Suzhou  Industrial Park. Over the past 30 years, Suzhou Industrial Park has  transformed low-lying farmland into a township of innovation. It is a  good example of mutually beneficial cooperation and a witness of  Singapore’s involvement in China’s reform and opening up. China has  remained committed to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics  that suits its national conditions, and has embarked on a new journey  to further deepen reforms comprehensively to advance  Chinese modernization. China will always focus on running its own  affairs well, and has confidence in maintaining sound economic momentum  in the long run and achieving high-quality development. China welcomes  Singapore to continue being a forerunner in cooperation with China, make  good use of the meeting platform of the China-Singapore Bilateral  Cooperation Mechanism, advance major cooperation projects at a high  level, seize the opportunities brought by digital and green development,  and write a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in the new era.

Xi  Jinping pointed out that major changes unseen in a century are taking  place in the world. Amid risks and challenges, not a single country can  be immune, while upholding solidarity, cooperation, openness and  inclusiveness is the right path. China is ready to work with Singapore  to practice true multilateralism, follow the trend of economic  globalization, uphold international fairness and justice, reject bloc  confrontation, division and antagonism, and build an Asian community  with a shared future.

Lee  Hsien Loong said that he paid a successful visit to China in March last  year and jointly announced with President Xi Jinping elevating the  Singapore-China relationship to an all-round high-quality  future-oriented partnership. Bilateral relations have since been further  strengthened, and the meeting of the bilateral cooperation mechanism  has been successfully held and produced many practical outcomes. Over  the past 30 years of development and construction, Suzhou Industrial  Park has developed into a modern town, a successful practice and a  golden brand of high-quality cooperation between Singapore and China,  and also shows the world China's stance of continuous reform and opening  up. China has found a successful path of modernization, and Singapore  is full of confidence in China's future and believes that China will  maintain development and prosperity and make greater contributions to  world peace and development. Singapore will remain committed to  deepening cooperation with China and actively participate in the Chinese  modernization process. Under the current complex international  situation, all countries should have a long-term vision and stay  committed to multilateralism, solidarity and cooperation to jointly  address risks and challenges and better benefit the people.

The  two sides also had an exchange of views on major issues of common  interest and concern, such as China-U.S. relations and the regional  situation.

Wang Yi was present at the meeting.
