On November 22, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Bob Prince, Co-Chief Investment Officer for Bridgewater Associates.
Yin stated that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has outlined a series of tasks for deepening financial system reforms and expanding high-level opening-up. This will provide new opportunities for China to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve common development with countries worldwide. In recent years, Beijing has been fully implementing the new Master Plan of Development for Beijing, incorporating the “five key initiatives” into the new development paradigm and pursuing high-quality growth with reduced input. Notably, the city has demonstrated strong momentum in high-tech industries with robust innovation. Significant progress has also been made in eco-environmental conservation, with meticulous efforts for continuous improvement in air quality. Solid steps have been taken to advance the nationwide battle to prevent and control pollution, and transform Beijing into a garden city, building on its development as a national city of forests and parks. Beijing’s achievements in green development has made the city increasingly livable and business-friendly. As a pioneer in China’s financial opening-up, Beijing will expand institutional opening-up in the financial sector and strengthen international financial exchanges and cooperation. Yin welcomed Bridgewater Associates to leverage Beijing’s advantages in financial opening-up, continuously expanding its business and investment cooperation in the city, and sharing in Beijing’s high-quality development opportunities. To deliver higher-quality services for enterprises of all types operating in Beijing, the city will continue to improve and implement “service package” and “service steward” mechanisms.
Prince spoke highly of Beijing’s development achievements and expressed strong commitment to the Beijing market, with plans to invest further in the city. He emphasized the readiness to seize opportunities arising from the city’s development and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the financial sector.
Zeng Jin, Secretary-General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
