Xi Jinping Meets with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli

On  the afternoon of December 3, 2024, President Xi Jinping met with Nepali  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is on an official visit to China, at  the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.

Xi  Jinping expressed appreciation for KP Sharma Oli's long-term firm  commitment to promoting friendship between China and Nepal and noted  that China and Nepal are good neighbors, good friends and good partners  linked by mountains and rivers. The two countries have always treated  each other with sincerity and mutual respect and support, and bilateral  relations have maintained sound and steady development. Noting that next  year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic  relations between China and Nepal, Xi Jinping said China places Nepal in  an important position in its neighborhood diplomacy, and is ready to  uphold the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic relations with  Nepal, consolidate their traditional friendship and push for new and  greater progress in advancing the China-Nepal strategic partnership of  cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and  prosperity.

Xi  Jinping stressed that China respects Nepal's choice to follow a  development path suited to its national conditions and supports Nepal in  safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial  integrity. China is ready to work with Nepal to consolidate strategic  mutual trust and provide staunch support on issues concerning each  other's core interests. The building of the Nepal-China Trans-Himalayan  Multi-dimensional Connectivity Network is gradually transforming from a  concept into reality. China is ready to continue to deepen pragmatic  cooperation with Nepal, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation,  and strengthen connectivity cooperation in such fields as ports,  transportation, power grids and communications. China is ready to help  Nepal accelerate its transformation from a "land-locked country" to a  "land-linked country", continue to support Nepal's economic and social  development within its capacity, and encourage Chinese enterprises to  invest and do business in Nepal. China supports Nepal's declaration of  2025 as Nepal Visit Year in China, and welcomes Nepali friends to travel  to China for business, tourism and study. China is ready to strengthen  coordination and cooperation with Nepal at the United Nations and other  multilateral platforms, to safeguard the common interests of developing  countries.

KP  Sharma Oli said that under the dynamic leadership of President Xi  Jinping, China has achieved remarkable development, which stands as a  miracle in human progress. As a friend of China, Nepal is deeply proud  of and inspired by these achievements, and hopes to learn from China's  successful experience to drive its own development and prosperity. There  are no problems, only friendship, between Nepal and China. The  relationship between the two countries is based on friendship, equality,  and respect. KP Sharma Oli expressed gratitude to China for its timely  assistance and various forms of valuable support, which helped Nepal  transform from a "land-locked country" into a "land-linked country".  Nepal is ready to continue to actively participate in the Belt and Road  cooperation. Nepal welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in the  country and deepen cooperation in various fields. Both Xizang and Taiwan  are inalienable parts of China's territory. Nepal firmly adheres to the  one-China principle, and will not allow any force to use its territory  for anti-China activities or to harm China's interests. Nepal opposes  any foreign interference in China's internal affairs. The Global  Development Initiative and other important initiatives put forward by  China are conducive to jointly addressing the current complex  international situation and global challenges for mankind, and Nepal is  ready to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to safeguard  the common interests of the Global South.

The two sides issued the Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and Nepal.
