On  December 3, 2024, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China  (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping held talks with  President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the  Senate of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Diaoyutai State  Guesthouse in Beijing.

Xi  Jinping said that the ironclad friendship between China and Cambodia is  of high quality and fully conforms to the common interests of the two  peoples. China has always regarded Cambodia as a priority in its  neighborhood diplomacy and is ready to work together with Cambodia to  build a high-quality, high-level and high-standard China-Cambodia  community with a shared future in the new era. First, the two sides must  firmly support each other to consolidate their ironclad friendship.  China will firmly support Cambodia in safeguarding its national  sovereignty, security and development interests. Second, the two sides  should deepen exchanges and mutual learning to seek common development  and revitalization. The CPC is ready to strengthen strategic  communication and cooperation in cadre training with the CPP, and to  assist Cambodia in exploring a development path suited to its national  conditions. Third, the two sides should seize opportunities to make new  progress in win-win cooperation. China is ready to work with Cambodia to  focus on the implementation of the new action plan on building a  community with a shared future, continuously enrich the "diamond  hexagon" cooperation framework, formulate cooperation plans for the  "industrial development corridor" and the "fish and rice corridor",  promote the effective implementation of key cooperative projects, and  contribute to the high-quality synergy between the Belt and Road  Initiative and Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy.

Xi  Jinping pointed out that at present, the international situation is  fraught with changes and chaos, and global challenges are emerging one  after another, testing the responses and choices of all countries. Both  China and Cambodia are committed to being the forces for peace,  development and progress in the world. China will continue to support  Cambodia in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs  to boost the strength of the Global South. China supports ASEAN in  upholding its strategic autonomy and maintaining its centrality, firmly  opposes external forces' introduction of Cold War mentality into the  region, and unswervingly promotes ASEAN integration and community  building. China is ready to work with Cambodia with firm determination  to heighten the bottom-line mentality, strengthen collaboration and  coordination, and jointly address various risks.

Samdech  Techo Hun Sen said that the Cambodia-China friendship was jointly  established by the elder generation of leaders of both sides and has  withstood the test of history and time. The Cambodia-China community  with a shared future is in the common interests of both sides. The  Cambodian side thanked the Chinese side for its invaluable support and  assistance in Cambodia's political, economic and social development over  the years. He said, China is Cambodia's most trusted friend, and  friendship with China is a firm political consensus within the CPP,  which will not undergo any changes with intergenerational leadership  transitions in Cambodia. Cambodia will continue to firmly pursue the  one-China principle, support China in safeguarding its core interests,  and is ready to comprehensively strengthen party-to-party exchanges with  China, deepen political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation in  various fields, and enhance youth, people-to-people and cultural  exchanges, in a bid to better benefit the two peoples. Cambodia is ready  to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China on international  and regional affairs.
