On June 6, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Ion Ceban, General Mayor of Chisinau Municipality, Moldova.

Yin said that in recent years Beijing has kept to its strategic positioning as the “four centers” and implemented the new Master Plan. Driven by sci-tech innovation, the city has made solid progress in high-quality development, and is moving toward a world-class harmonious and livable city. Embracing the philosophy that “lucid water and lush mountains are invaluable assets”, we have made significant advancements in ecological conservation, leading to notable improvements in the city’s ecological environment and remarkable results in green development. Underpinned by high-standard planning and construction, the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) is gradually taking shape. To build Beijing into a smart city, we have boosted the capacity for smart urban management by leveraging the integrated networks for city operation, smart governance, and decision-making. As the capitals of China and Moldova, Beijing and Chisinau have much in common regarding urban planning, development and management. It is hoped that the two cities will maintain close exchanges and cooperation, share experience in urban governance, and deepen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, and sci-tech innovation for the well-being of the citizens.

Ceban spoke highly of Beijing’s socio-economic success and ecological improvement and praised the BMC’s development. He said Chisinau is willing to deepen exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Beijing to learn from Beijing’s experience in urban planning and development, smart city initiatives, and green development.

Olga Ursu, Deputy Mayor of Chisinau, and Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
