On the afternoon of August 16, the 2023 World Robot Conference (WRC 2023) opened in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA). Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and Wan Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), graced the Conference with their presence.

At the opening ceremony, the WRC 2023 was officially inaugurated when Yin Li and Wan Gang pressed the start buttons together with Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Shu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group, Standing Vice Chairman, and Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of CAST, Xia Linmao, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Beijing, Alexander Verl, Chairman of the IFR Research Committee, and Wang Tianran, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). Xin Guobin, Shu Wei, Xia Linmao, and José Vieira, President of World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), delivered speeches. The event also featured the launch of the World Robotics Cooperation Organization (WRCO), initiated by the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) in collaboration with 34 other institutions including the Israeli Robotics Association (IROB).

After the opening ceremony, the officials visited the booths of core components, Estun Automation, and Soft Robot Technology Co., Ltd. (SRT) at the World Robot Expo 2023.

Learn about technical features of soft robots

With the theme "Openness and Innovation for a Shared Future", WRC 2023 will feature a "Night of Cooperation", six main forums, 30 special forums, expositions, and competitions, with 320 heavyweights from various backgrounds, including government, industry, academia, research, application, and finance. Nearly 600 robotic products from 159 companies will be exhibited, and nearly 10,000 players will compete against each other. The conference will catalyze international cooperation, stimulate the vitality of business entities, and unleash innovation drivers. Through intensified exchanges and cooperation of the global robotics industry, it will help build Beijing into an international center for innovation and a center for international exchanges, and grow the robot industry at a high quality, thus bringing about more products characterized by "Beijing Smart Manufacturing".

Also attending the Conference were Gou Ping, Vice Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), municipal leaders of Beijing Jin Wei and Zhao Lei, heads of some national robotics associations and international organizations, Chinese and foreign experts and scholars, and corporate representatives.
