Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with Bill Anderson, Chairman and CEO of Bayer from Germany on July 6.
Yin Li stated that China is the largest market for Bayer’s prescription drugs and the second-largest market for consumer health products. Notably, the Beijing plant stands as Bayer’s largest prescription drug packaging base worldwide. The abundant technological innovation resources, a well-established pharmaceutical manufacturing system, and thriving urban modern agriculture in Beijing present enormous opportunities for further cooperation between the two sides. He hoped that Bayer would continue to expand its local production and leverage its production capacity in Beijing to drive the industrialization of more innovation achievements. The company is also encouraged to expand its R&D business in Beijing and capitalize on the city’s innovation resources and development policies for further research collaboration with local companies and institutions, as well as investment and incubation in innovation projects. These efforts will enable Bayer to be deeply engaged in Beijing’s innovation ecosystem. By participating in Beijing’s agriculture modernization, Bayer is expected to contribute more solutions catering to Beijing’s realities, particularly in agricultural sci-tech innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Beijing remains committed to creating a market-based and world-class business environment that is governed by a sound legal framework to facilitate Bayer’s development here.
Anderson said that China’s vibrant economy and thriving city of Beijing left a deep impression on them. Bayer will continue its growth in China by beefing up local production capacity and expanding its investment in Beijing. The company wishes to establish partnerships with more research institutions and innovative enterprises to explore practical cooperation with Beijing in various areas such as the modern seed industry, soil carbon sequestration technology, and cell gene therapy.
Leaders of the municipal government, Xia Linmao, Jin Wei, and Zhao Lei, also attended the meeting.
