On the afternoon of March 28, Mayor Yin Yong met with Daniel Andrews, Premier of Victoria, Australia.
After offering a cordial greeting, Yin emphasized the significance of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Bali in November 2022, as it has set the course for the next phase of China-Australia relations. The frequent high-level exchanges indicate the positive progress of bilateral ties. Moreover, the fruitful cooperation between Beijing and Victoria in various areas like trade, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges demonstrates that the two sides enjoy strong complementarity and broad vistas for cooperation. To cement the social foundation of China-Australia friendship, we will take action based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, as outlined in the leaders’ meeting. This will involve enhancing coordination with Victoria across all levels and fields, expanding cooperation in trade, technological innovation, and green and low-carbon development, facilitating two-way investment, promoting personnel exchanges in fields such as education and tourism, and encouraging people-to-people exchanges.
Andrews expressed his commitment to valuing the friendship and partnership with Beijing, and his willingness to enhance cooperation in areas like economy, trade, science and technology, education, and tourism, promote common development, and achieve win-win outcomes.
