To celebrate the success of the 20th CPC National Congress, the official WeChat account of the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office (WeChat ID: bjszfwb) posted a collection of "Highlights in Strengthening Beijing's Role as the Center for International Exchanges by Each District", showcasing the progress and achievements made by each district in related tasks and how they will build on past successes to further advance the capital city's development in the new era.
As the capital's significant function-carrier area as well as an ecological conservation area, Huairou District has taken a solid step to improve Beijing's role as the center for international exchanges by upgrading the Yanqi Lake International Convention Center. The district is committed to promoting scientific and technological innovation, hosting conferences and recreational activities and improving films and movies and entertainment services while ensuring ecological conservation. The district has made great efforts to protect the environment, build a sound ecosystem for scientific and technological innovation, create a new form of city, cultivate high-end, precision and sophisticated industries and foster a healthy political culture of integrity and honesty.
I. Deliver quality services for major state events
Quality services have been delivered for diplomatic events and other major events. Yanqi Lake International Convention Center played host to the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Understanding China, G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting, and G20 Science, Technology and Innovation Ministers Meeting. During the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, high-quality services were provided for foreign dignitaries and delegations.

II. Continue to Improve the Facilities and Services of Yanqi Lake International Convention Center
The Yanqi Lake International Convention Center was expanded and upgraded with 15 major projects completed or renovated such as the Wild Goose & Pine, and the exhibition center of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Repo of the Zhuozheng Project, transformation of Sunac's Land Plots, and renovation design of Songxiu Garden Resort were also completed. The Mulian Road and Yanqi Lake North Road are under construction at a faster pace.

The Yanqi Lake International Conference Resort has become a globally recognized brand that continues to grow in influence. This is evident through a series of international conferences and events that were held there, such as the Beijing International Film Festival, the First BRICS Energy Cooperation Forum, and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) Audit Commission Meeting. The resort won the Award of China's Most Competitive Meetings and Award Industry Area in 2020 and the Goldfinger Award for the Most Influential Green Exhibition Destination in 2021.
III. Achieve Solid Progress in International Exchanges
Sister city relations have been deepened. Huairou District and Seongdong District of Seoul assisted each other in the fight against Covid-19 and the two districts maintained exchanges through various activities such as online interactions between table tennis associations and youth choirs.

Huairou Science City has demonstrated its growing global significance and competitiveness by playing host to more than 80 sci-tech innovation events, including the Conference on International Cooperation of Science Centers. The first-round appointment for the Synergetic Extreme Condition User Facility (SECUF) was completed, attracting over 40 Chinese and foreign users, such as Eindhoven University of Technology and Tsinghua University, who expressed interest in conducting academic studies and technology research.
The 2022 China (Beijing Huairou) - Germany Key Industry Online Dialogue was held, creating a platform for international industrial cooperation and exchanges. Besides, Huairou participated in the Online Introduction of Beijing's "Two Zones" Policy for the UK & the US. The district has also accelerated the construction of Deloitte University, enabling it to start operating ahead of schedule.

IV. Upgrade International Services
The Government Service Center provides foreign-language services through professional staff at seven service windows, and offers support in 112 languages, including English and French by using specialized devices. Information on Covid-19 testing and vaccination has been made available in key enterprises to meet the needs of foreign talents. The Yanqi River Ecological Corridor was built and Phase I of Yanqi International Talent Community was completed. Thanks to the sound record-keeping, dynamic management, and daily monitoring of the foreign-language signs across the district, Huairou has witnessed continuous improvement in its international language environment.
