Recently, the 2025 Plenary Meeting of  the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee  & the District Leading Group for Improving Beijing’s Role as the  Center for International Exchanges was held. The meeting reviewed the  2025 work priorities and the 2024 annual work report of the Foreign  Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee, as well as the  2025 work priorities of the District Leading Group. The plenary also  listened to Fengtai District’s performance in the 2024 monitoring and  evaluation report on improving Beijing’s role as the center for  international exchanges in and Fengtai District’s plan for official  overseas visits in 2025. Wang Shaofeng, Secretary of the CPC Fengtai  District Committee, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC  Fengtai District Committee, and Head of the District Leading Group,  presided over the meeting. Zhang Yanlin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC  Fengtai District Committee, Acting District Mayor, Deputy Director of  the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee, and  First Deputy Head of the District Leading Group; and Jiang Dafeng,  Deputy Secretary of the CPC Fengtai District Committee, Deputy  Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District  Committee, and Deputy Head of the District Leading Group, were present.

The  meeting pointed out that the District should follow the guidance of Xi  Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,  especially Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, and fully implement the  guiding principles established at the 20th CPC National Congress and the  second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central  Committee. Resolutely aligning with the decisions and arrangements of  the CPC Central Committee on foreign affairs and work requirements of  the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, it should fully support the overall  diplomatic endeavors of the country by continuously refining its work  on improving Beijing’s role as the center for international exchanges.  Proactive approaches should be adopted to integrate into the  high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with effective actions to  serve regional high-quality economic development. It should also  strengthen friendly communication activities with neighboring countries  to enhance sister-city exchanges.

The meeting stressed that the District should fulfill the tasks outlined in the Guidelines for the Planning of Improving Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges,  and continue to advance relevant tasks. It should intensify efforts to  promote Fengtai’s investment opportunities and make greater efforts to  attract and utilize foreign capital. It should accelerate the integrated  development of the museum cluster in the southern section of  Beijing Central Axis and Lize City Terminal, a comprehensive  transportation hub. Efforts should be made to upgrade service and  management on foreign-related work to build a high-quality international  environment. Special initiatives to improve the language environment  should also be implemented. Moreover, the District should continue to  host influential international events to showcase Fengtai’s unique  character and tell its story well.

The  meeting also emphasized that the Party’s leadership over foreign  affairs work should be strengthened, mandating the Foreign Affairs  Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee to improve its role in  planning and coordinating foreign affairs work in the District,  directing the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Fengtai District to  provide rigorous guidance and oversight for all foreign-related  activities, and requiring all member organizations to fulfill their  due responsibilities with effective implementation of tasks.
